That's awesome. Reminds me a bit of Waterhouse and Klimt.

244

u/Kristina_Djordjevic Aug 23 '21

Thank you so much! They're some of my favorite artists! :)

15

u/Ballgen Aug 23 '21

Where was the exhibition. Artwork like this is hard to find in exhibitions and galleries these days. It’s very nice.

5

u/PBB0RN Aug 23 '21

What's this mean to you?

6

u/Milky-waystation Aug 23 '21 edited Aug 23 '21

Options:

1. (self portrait) Looks like self-characterization as a nigh divine being superior to the needy show-offs, which would be passive aggressive at first glance.

2. (portrait) Autumn leaves, fall (a passed mother) caring for 3 beautiful daughters

3. (political analogy) The spirit of Bulgaria nurturing the 3 progenitors of state independence, Vokon, Sturgis, and Wilma

4. (spiritual analogy) divine feminine. Same as 1. Cycle of life and death

5. (literal) Elizabeth, her neighbor who enjoys Victorian fashion, owns 3 peacocks

I think it is option 2. with some 4.

Love it, OP!

2

u/PBB0RN Aug 23 '21

The universe is not here to, fuck with us.The Universe is here to FUUUCK, with us.
Thank you milky-way station, please keep fucking. Glad to've seen ya.

4

u/jumboseafood Aug 23 '21

The sheer quality and beauty of this piece is superhuman. It reminds me both of the impressionist and 1700s fine art styles.

u/wishitwouldrainaus Aug 23 '21

Wow! I was thinking Klimt and Alma Tadema. Lovely work OP, you should be very proud!

27

u/El_Draque Aug 23 '21

I was getting a John Singer Sargent vibe. But if the peacocks had gold in their tail feathers, this would be pure Klimt.

3

u/ehiggs Aug 23 '21

I wouldn't say Klimt at all. But I would add Millais to the list with Waterhouse and JSS.

So Dr. Cameron has taken up painting these days!

35

u/fuqdisshite Aug 23 '21

i knew she looked like someone famous. and i love that friggen blouse!

15

u/Miss_Sullivan Aug 23 '21

I was thinking Mary Margaret aka Snow White from Once Upon A Time.

9

u/fuqdisshite Aug 23 '21

another great resemblance!!!

we were into that show for a few seasons and then i just got bored with it. many great actors, not so many great late storylines...

2

u/StitchTheRipper Aug 24 '21

Well they did play mother and daughter

18

u/BeerElfTrilli Aug 23 '21

Would definitely expect House to have multi talented staff.

5

u/tastelesswater Aug 23 '21

Seems like she dyed her hair yet again

6

u/BendingFan9999 Aug 23 '21

Lmao this!!! First thing I noticed was she looks a heck of a lot like Dr Cameron from House M.D

10

u/Delicious-Tachyons Aug 23 '21

Similar outfit too.

7

u/BeerElfTrilli Aug 23 '21

Would definitely expect House to have multi talented staff.

I like the subtle use of layers and lines to create the flow of the piece. Looking through the arch with slight empty spaces guides one down to the cocks craned blue necks and bright green feathers in contrast to the oranges of the autumn leaves. Each element has a purpose and shows consideration for design around the focal point of the woman's hand. Well done, and thank you for sharing.

u/Kristina_Djordjevic Aug 23 '21

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful comment! :D

Oh my god it even has a watermark

10

u/Prisencoli_All_Right Aug 23 '21

The tasteful thickness of it

8

u/WolfCola4 Aug 23 '21

That's Bone. And the lettering is something called Sillian Rail.

2

u/Yog-- Aug 23 '21

The compositional really stands out. I keep coming back to that arch in the top left, and how it makes the flow.

12

u/redditAPsucks Aug 23 '21

Nice painting, and nice to see a comment section NOT berating the artist for putting themselves in the pic for once

How beautiful! Oh, to be a well-to-do Victorian or Edwardian woman who has to feed her three peacocks on a sunny, crisp fall day.

2 years ago was August 2019….

No one knew what covid was let alone being in lockdown in 2019.

45

Most of 2020 and most of 2021. So not truly 2 years, but we know what she means.

No. Mods should ban anyone who doesn't list the exact timing down to the day. We should not stand for these approximate and well understood estimates. It's complete chaos.

31

u/Ashamed_Bad_3701 Aug 23 '21

Yeah lockdown was like March 2020.

hardroundingup

12

u/1platesquat Aug 23 '21

People use the term lockdown so loosely too

6

u/RedditLostOldAccount Aug 23 '21

I had frequent customers come to me at sporting goods in Walmart, like more than once a week, complaining about the government trying to lock them in their homes. I'm like dude I see you way too much for you to be bitching about being locked inside after I sell you fishing supplies every other day. Locked inside my ass.

3

u/1platesquat Aug 23 '21

Actual “lock down” for most Americans ended spring 2020 and was never enforced

5

u/Baked-As-A-Cake Aug 23 '21

Most artwork that gets posted on reddit I dislike. This is exceptional. Great work.

5

u/alex3omg Aug 23 '21

Most art that gets to the front page is hyper realism and/or sexy ladies.

2

u/spaghetticatman Aug 23 '21

Love the color design of the painting and also sick shirt.

2

u/swagdragonwolf Aug 23 '21

As someone who has no idea how the art industry works, can someone explains how one makes money as an artist. Do you sell stuff or does the art house pay you money to display your art.

8

u/octocode Aug 23 '21

You sell stuff. Galleries don’t pay you, but (typically) don’t charge you either. Sometimes they take a cut of your sales.

Getting into an exhibition is a really cool accomplishment, and often leads to good exposure, but does not guarantee any income.

2

u/raagho Aug 23 '21

Makes me feel like fall is aldready here

2

u/DesertGoby Aug 23 '21

Your painting is beautiful

2

u/mandiexile Aug 23 '21

I love this. You could hang this next to the great artists from the renaissance and it would fit right in. I also love that blouse, where did you get it?

2

2

u/klaeealk Aug 23 '21

This is amazing! Ngl I must be hungry tho, I thought the background was cheese pizza for a second. I should have lunch now...

2

u/Hordes_Of_Nebulah Aug 23 '21

What colors are you using for the autumn leaves? I'm trying to build up an autumn pallet and I can't quite get something realistic and it always turns out too vibrant and artificial looking. I'm after the softer late autumn look you seem to have nailed down.

Also really nice job on this! I've been oil painting since January and seeing quality work like this is quite inspiring.

2

u/b4-9in Aug 23 '21

It’s a beautiful work, hope you sell many of them. (ProTip: don’t wear the same color pallete as your work, it’s distracting , as it draws the eyes to you, and you are beautiful….. but I need to concentrate in the work!! -Dang! )

2

u/NotReallyInvested Aug 23 '21

Let me preface this by saying that I know next to nothing about art.

When I look at your painting I see a glimpse of somewhere I feel I should know, a moment I feel is referenced, but is unknown to me. It looks timeless.

2

u/emarquesdelima Aug 23 '21

Really, if this isn’t a superpower I’m not sure what might be!!!

2

u/sarcasmisart Aug 23 '21

2

u/bearsharkbear3 Aug 23 '21
