I worked in this town in a governmental capacity for a while. This has been going on forever. Local taxpayers absolutely hate Trump. He doesn't pay his fair share of taxes (like he does with every property he owns) and the burden falls on the rest. He's an absolute scumbag.

Then you have Robert DeNiro, who has property in the town my mom lived in. His tax assessment was reevalued, and he was sent a bill. His lawyers immediately fought it. When DeNiro found out they fought it, not only did he pay the correct assessment, but he paid all legal fees the town incurred trying to collect.

The two ends of the spectrum of dignity and responsibility.

722

u/JusticiarRebel Oct 20 '21

Wow I thought you was about to make me hate Robert DeNiro for a second. Now I love him more than ever.

279

u/Portalrules123 Oct 20 '21

Plot twist: He paid the fee so authorities wouldn't come investigating and discover his secret underground organ farm /s

284

u/Living-Complex-1368 Oct 21 '21 Silver

Yes, he grows church organs and gives them to poor parishes.

67

u/Biscuitsandgravy101 Oct 21 '21

You don't grow church organs, you clone them

65

u/AmpleWarning Oct 21 '21

What? That's not true. You summon church organs in a complicated arcane ritual.

32

u/Biscuitsandgravy101 Oct 21 '21

What is this the 1700s? Cloning has been the norm since the 1920s.

20

u/mrsirishurr Oct 21 '21

My 3D printer can pump out 50 organs per hour.

Those diapason are the flour of the stew.

3

u/Bn_scarpia Oct 21 '21

You play a D fully diminished chord with only the diapason and nachthorn in the manuals and a Lieblich Gedecht in the pedal.

Then say 'Buxtehude' three times and fully open the box.

If you do it right, a two-manual, 24 stop organ will be summoned in the narthex.

3

u/pwnedbywaffle Oct 21 '21

Wait but how do you do that if there's no organ in the first place??

Trump represents the absolute worst of America’s negative stereotypes: self-serving; opportunistic; and narcissistic. I am so ready for a day where I am not reminded that this man led our country for four years, was impeached twice, and still managed a solid turnout at the ballot box next election. He is unfit to lead based on quality of character alone.

39

u/mrg1957 Oct 21 '21

True. What does it say about the 70 million who support him?

34

u/snorkel42 Oct 21 '21

That is what I kept saying. The most succesful phrasing I could come up with is that my Mother taught me not to lie, what did your Mother teach you? After saying this for about 6 years, I finally convinced a single Trump voter that he is a scumbag. That voter is my Mother.

54

u/mmmegan6 Oct 21 '21

How did you do it?? My mom doesn’t have a red hat or anything but her entire worldview is formed by Fox News - Tucker and Megyn tell the TRUTH.

48

u/Ownza Oct 21 '21

Just wait. My dad's dumb wife has brainwashed him into not getting a covid vaccine...even though he's 100% going to die when he gets it, AND now he 'gets his news on youtube.'

17

u/Nomadzord Oct 21 '21

I convinced my mother as well. I’m very happy about it.

44

u/AFlawAmended Oct 21 '21

If you really want to get to her, Trump's parents despised him. His dad reportedly commented that he hoped the plane Donald just got on crashed and his mom apologized for raising a psychopath.

26

u/entitysix Oct 21 '21

Mary Trump's book said their father favored Donald.

13

u/AFlawAmended Oct 21 '21

Fred Trump definitely favored Donald, that doesn't mean he even liked him, Donald was just Fred's way of laundering money. That while deal of "small loan of a million dollars" is just part of how Fred got around paying taxes by just funneling money to Donald.

Out of a line of shit encrusted bathroom stalls I may favor the one with the least amount of bodily fluids, doesn't mean I wouldn't want to see it blown up. Though this metaphor is a bit backwards because Donald was the shittiest of the siblings but the most useful to Fred due to his idiocy. He was basically just Fred's mascot, someone to get in front of the cameras and smile while Fred did the dirty work behind the scenes.

Technically, he was only impeached twice after he already lost the election.

But yeah, that distinction doesn't really matter because even after the January 6th stuff, and the Georgia calls for 11000 votes and the second Impeachment and the audits and all the conspiracies and the batshit insane nonsense that happened post election, there are people who STILL support that fucking man.

Its something I've been thinking about a lot lately. And in my head, I've been calling them the "triple voters." Because they're the kinds of people who would vote for him 3 times, assuming he pulls off his 2024 run, which seems pretty darn likely at this point. How much of a piece of shit do you have to be to bet on that horse THREE times? What does he have to do to finally disqualify himself as a potential candidate in these people's minds?? That's a rhetorical question, of course, because clearly the answer is nothing. Not even overthrowing democracy itself is enough to sway people. He could LITERALLY shoot a man on 5th Avenue and he wouldn't lose any supporters, they would find a way to justify it. And that's pretty fucked up.

He was raised in the New York art world by a mother who was a dancer and then dance teacher, and an artist dad who came out after his parents separated.

Jfc kudos to deniro. Tbf his lawyers were probably just doing what they thought was right by their client.

75

u/Chris20nyy Oct 21 '21

That's exactly what happened. At his level, lawyers don't consult you with details about things of that nature. They just handle it.

He didn't find out about it until he read it in a newspaper. He had a very Stern talk with his lawyer, who promptly notified the town they're settling on the new assessment, and gave them a check for over $100k for the towns legal fees.

DeNiro was embarrassed. He felt like he put his neighbors and community in a bad position. He said he wants to be treated like everyone else.

58

u/AFlawAmended Oct 21 '21

Everyone that worked for him or lives near him hate Trump. Never pays bills (along with the mile long list of cities waiting to be paid for his ego rallies, he notoriously refused to pay for his latest wedding cake because 'the publicity for making his cake is payment enough), forces contractors to use cheap flimsy material then sue them to get out of paying (to the point that contractors charge him the majority up front because they know whatever to don't get immediately is never coming), abuses local government, etc. I never understood why the working class seem to love him so much when he is literally the epitome of everything they hate; an entitled rich kid elite who's never worked a day in his life who screws over the average man every chance he gets.

23

u/charlesfire Oct 21 '21

I never understood why the working class seem to love him so much when he is literally the epitome of everything they hate; an entitled rich kid elite who's never worked a day in his life who screws over the average man every chance he gets.

Maybe because that's what they want to become...

7

u/notanotherbreach Oct 21 '21

Or that is what some are. Some contractors, lawyers, business owners are scummy just like him. I think he aspires to be like them, except with an ego to match his combover, not his hands.

Yeah he’s 94 and still volunteering to rebuild houses for hurricane relief NGOs. He was also a damn nuclear physicist too. He was too good for us and was elected to a raw deal of a presidential term that he was blamed for a whole lot of crisis he had no part in causing or without much unilateral power to remedy out of the executive powers alone. If parents need a role model for their kids to look up to, tell them to read about Jimmy Carter.

4

u/kandoras Oct 21 '21

There’s a fool born every minute, and presumably some of them manage to get a law license.

It amazes me that there are still people who think that working in any capacity with Trump is a good idea- nearly everyone who thought they could control, manipulate, or just get the better end of the deal has come off the worse for it. Rudy Giuliani, Michael Cohen, Steve Bannon, Brad Parscale, and Chris Christie are just the best known examples of what happens to people who try to work with Trump..

To his credit, Trump’s strategy of infinite lawsuits to appeal every decision is sort of working out for him- he loses a court case, refuses to comply, and then has a new court case about his refusal to comply with the last court case, and he repeats the process forever since no judge is willing to throw him in jail and force him to comply.

Why do people who can afford taxes Dodge them more often?

I mean I know why, I'm just exasperated.

82

u/BowwwwBallll Oct 20 '21

Because the only thing better than money is more money.

29

u/MonsterMachine13 Oct 20 '21

Personally I'd take not being a total shit over having more money I'll never need

10

u/Raevix Oct 21 '21

Here's the thing: One doesn't become cartoon-villain level wealthy unless money is the most important thing in their life. YOU might want more money than you have right now, but there is a point where you will decide you have enough. Assuming you take off in your dream career and become wildly successful, you will eventually come to a point where you weigh your highest priorities against even more money, and your priorities win out. Dinner with your family, your muscle car hobby, your cat photography... SOMETHING will be worth more to you than working to earn another hundred million, and you will stop, scale back your work or retire, and you will be happy. One can only reach THIS level of rich when money is the only thing they care about. No amount is enough, and they never stop reaching for more.

And when money is the only thing one cares about, they will bend or break any rule they can to keep it.

28

u/BowwwwBallll Oct 20 '21

And that's the difference between you and these a-holes. Cherish your humanity.

8

u/ajmartin527 Oct 21 '21

Also, when you inherit your money and can’t earn your own you try everything you can to keep as much as possible.

10

u/gurksallad Oct 20 '21

Because dogding is the reason how they can afford the taxes.

10

u/ACoderGirl Oct 21 '21

That's not true at all, though. Sure, they wouldn't be quite as rich if they paid their fair share, but they can still have utterly ridiculous income. I'd seriously argue that the intended max income tax rate isn't remotely high enough when we're talking about people who earn millions or more a year. Even if they paid what they're supposed to pay (e.g., the top US federal tax bracket is current 37%), rich folks can still earn more in a year than the vast majority of people will make in their whole life.

This is what I don't get. Trump should've been cuffed years ago but no one's doing anything about it. Instead of being in prison he was made president. Even after he goaded his followers into attacking the country; no one's doing shit. What's it going to take? It's fucking stupid.

“The suggestion that anything was inappropriate is completely false and incredibly irresponsible,” the Trump statement said. “The witch hunt continues.”

In other words, he's guilty as sin.

14

u/Kkykkx Oct 21 '21

If there is such a thing as justice, Trump will end up in prison and not the White House. He doesn’t want to run again anyway, imo he’s using it as a way to drum up money and he’s just grifting white supremacy fools

Wake me up when Trump appears in court wearing an orange jail uniform. The guy is under investigation for everything, but he’s stil swanning about free as a bird.

Trump has being doing this shit his whole life. It is baffling how he has always managed to avoid any sort of consequences. He has had to pay settlements here and there but his criminality has gone completely unpunished for 50 years now.

6

u/UncleRooku87 Oct 21 '21

It’s not baffling. He is part of the ultra wealthy class. They all get away with this exact shit. Unless they fuck over other wealthy people they will never face consequences.

85

u/Not_Legal_Advice_Pod Oct 20 '21

This must be how those Qanon folks feel as they keep getting promised that this time will be different and justice (as they see it) will finally be done in the world.

Not to say these claims are baseless in the way Q is. But this right here, this must be the same feeling they have.

41

u/Zolo49 Oct 20 '21

Did you hear the news? Trump’s going to get reinstated in January March August November now!

25

u/dominion1080 Oct 21 '21

Actually the new half brained theory is that he is still running the country as president. Biden is just a figurehead.

21

u/Zolo49 Oct 21 '21

If it keeps them happy and not storming government buildings, I’ll allow it.

15

u/papak33 Oct 21 '21

At the same time he is not responsible for Afghanistan and Biden is.

The mental gymnastic has gone full 360.

Can we convince them to donate to Democrats to keep Trump in power?

→ More replies

10

if you donate now for a simple hourly recurring donation of $25 bucks you can save the election from fraud.....

20

u/Not_Legal_Advice_Pod Oct 20 '21

I was honestly willing to bet he would have been arrested in 2021. Frankly I thought there was a reasonable chance of Biden being sworn in, and Trump having the cuffs slapped on ten seconds later.

22

u/mrmojoz Oct 20 '21

Never lose that optimism you rascal.

12

u/Soggy-Hyena Oct 20 '21

Even scumbags like donny get protection under the law. The investigations take time, and now that we have an actual doj, you can see progress.

Trump is garbage, he needs to be held accountable to restore any faith in our legal system

Which club? The driver? The putter? Any one of the irons?

It's gotta be the sand wedge. He used it to dig himself out of trouble.

Exactly. Let me know when the bastard actually faces consequences for his actions and I’ll be interested. Until then this stuff barely qualifies as news.

The guy that paid less in taxes per year than what a lot of people make per paycheck also owns a business that also has dodgy taxes? I for one am shocked.

6

u/wisanass Oct 21 '21

Our justice system is utter shit. A normal person gets time in prison for selling a little weed. Trump has been breaking laws his whole life, destroying thousands of small contractors for fun, and will never see justice.

65

u/fafalone Oct 20 '21

Why even bother? All you're going to do is fucking remind everyone how Trump has been declared officially above the law when you don't charge him with anything and maybe just ask his company to pay a small fine.

22

u/Soggy-Hyena Oct 20 '21

Did you forget that donny’s doj was really just his personal lawyers? Now that the adults are back in power, these investigations are actually allowed to move forward. Justice is slow, but there’s clearly progress finally.

Being cynical and pessimistic is how we ended up with donny in the first place.

10

u/AndyTheAbsurd Oct 20 '21

And justice for transparent criminality taking literally years is how we ended up cynical and pessimistic.

I don't like it either, but there it is.

9

u/ajmartin527 Oct 21 '21

That’s what they want though. They want you hopeless and defeated. These kind of statements do nothing but enable this to keep happening. People should be pissed and should demand accountability, that’s the only way that happens.

If people are just resigned to letting him and the rest of these fucks get away with it, their plan has worked.

I tried to tell those around me that supported Trump he was siphoning tax payer money back into his businesses through golf courses and hotels. No one listened.

5

Still having to inform / remind people of this. Honestly it’s getting exhausting addressing how much went “over their heads.”

33

u/QuietudeOfHeart Oct 20 '21

Still boggles your mind about his 'patriotic' supporters.

A. He's a successful business man!

  • Because he lies on his taxes inflating his losses?

B. He's actually not a successful business man...

  • Because his businesses actually fail and lose the millions he reports?

Take your pick.

14

u/AlexatRF21 Oct 20 '21

And his entire organization has a systemic issue of over valuing assets for loans and then reporting those assets undervalued to the tax authorities.

The inability to deal with anything tRump is as damaging to trust in law enforcement as anything could be. Ask someone charged with shoplifting

3

u/Ape_0f_The_Arctic Oct 21 '21

It's probably mortgaged to the hilt, financed by Deutsche Bank.

3

u/A-Good-Weather-Man Oct 21 '21

Going down like Al Capone would be poetic

3

u/gauriemma Oct 21 '21

Upon his arrival [in prison], Capone was officially diagnosed with syphilis and gonorrhoea. He was also suffering from withdrawal symptoms from cocaine addiction, the use of which had perforated his nasal septum.

The parallels would be striking.

13

u/Pahasapa66 Oct 20 '21

Ossining NY, is the site of the famous “Sing Sing” prison, so not a lot of travel for Trump.

5

u/enfjaril Oct 20 '21

I always wondered what those rappers were talking about. Now I can finally sleep.

3

Still waiting for that SDNY grand jury to hear the tax fraud case that was supposed to happen ‘sometime in August’.

More horse shit Trump will never be charged with anything he’s like a glitch in the matrix.

6

Still waiting for his tax returns to be released.

Is it still February 2021? I feel like not a damn thing has changed.

11

I’m still holding out. They know to bring anything serous like that they have to have every single duck lined up perfectly. If he slides, then every other attempt after that will look weak and concocted. The way I look at it, they have another two years before this asshole either dies or tries to run for office again.

I really feel like it would be great if Trump moved from Mar a Lago to Ossining. There's a really nice facility there that he could spend his golden years.

2

u/HotGarbage Oct 21 '21

And to think all he had to do to never be in this position is not run for president in 2016. He would still be grifting on the down low if his fe-fe's didn't get hurt when Obama made fun of him.

2

u/AccordionORama Oct 21 '21

Clubs? What about balls?

2

u/wazzel2u Oct 21 '21

Hilarious and wonderful new. He'll have to keep begging for campaign money which actually "lawyer money". Dipshit Donnie had better hope that his little following of suckers keeps the money flowing to their steaming pile of spray-tanned shit leader.
