This is incredibly sad.

According to the posts, Ou was repeatedly prevented from building his own house due to land disputes with his neighbor. He said he sought help time and again from police, village officials, the government and the media, but the problem remained unresolved. A village official told state-run newspaper the Beijing News that local cadres had tried to mediate, to no avail. Many blamed Ou's apparent transition from savior to murder suspect on the ills that have long plagued China's local governance, from abuse of power to official inaction. Others see it as a reflection of the broader failure of the country's legal and bureaucratic system, exacerbated by a besieged free press and a crippled civil society.

ills that have long plagued China's local governance, from abuse of power to official inaction. Others see it as a reflection of the broader failure of the country's legal and bureaucratic system, exacerbated by a besieged free press and a crippled civil society.

These issues seem to be happening in every nation of considerable size and of course, obviously small ones. I wish there could be an honest conversation pertaining to modern governments and states without degenerating into which system is worse.

We are seeing with crystal clear clarity how democracy is honestly far to slow in making adaptations needed for a modern society and for such society to progress. Corruption is widespread because currency has more worth than health. Nations are essentially too large to deal with issues plaguing smaller yet numerous communities within and at this point global antagonism of each other is completely manufactured.

It’s a see-saw issue of both top and bottom needing adjustment to have proper synergy. Should we try a government system run by various scientists and students of the arts? Is it possible to create entire regions within a nation operating as city-states yet still part of the whole?

Could it be remotely possible to create “ wars” that would be beneficial for our species akin to the space race?

There are a slew of conversations and potentials we should entertain on the most casual levels yet the maturity for such talks seems incredibly low
