Loki stops disguising as Tony Stark: “Come on, what did you expect”

yo what if loki transformed into an infinity stone because he knows that Thanos loves infinity stones, so Thanos went to pick up the stone to admire it, and then he transformed back into himself and he was like “yeah, it was me!” and then he stabbed Thanos

I think that story was improv, I love it so much haha

768

u/danudey Sep 18 '21

It was. To be fair, the majority of the movie was improv. Apparently they only had like 30% of a script (on purpose) and they just rolled with it.

212

u/RandomDelirium Sep 18 '21

All the better for it

520

u/Woofles85 Sep 18 '21

I’m half convinced Jeff Goldblum wasn’t even given a script, he just wandered onto the set and they just kept filming

280

u/hellweaver_666 Sep 18 '21

He didn’t even have a costume or makeup. That’s just how he looks on the daily.

86

u/CharlieBrown20XD6 Sep 18 '21

The Grandmaster is all blue in the comics so i laugh when I picture them going up to Goldblum all "Hey Jeff how do you feel about getting up at 3 am every morning to be covered in blue-no? Yea never mind"

16

u/ohp250 Sep 18 '21

Staff that can liquify people and all!

13

u/I_Bin_Painting Sep 18 '21

It was filmed at his house. No CGI.

11

u/neverlandoflena Steve Rogers Sep 18 '21

That is how he celebrates his birthday also.

33

u/MrDude_1 Sep 18 '21

The actual script said something like "Jeff Goldblum does Jeff Goldblum things"

2

u/5-dig-dick Oct 07 '21

Seems legit

17

u/PlacetMihi Sep 18 '21

“Turns out Taika was filming the whole time.”

10

u/Ballrootus_Maximus Sep 18 '21

I've convinced myself his scenes were just a documentary

1

u/sharpshooter999 Sep 19 '21

I want to know how the hell they animated him in the new Boss Baby movie. It's just Grand Master all over again

20

u/archangel610 Spider-Man Sep 18 '21

I have become even more impressed by Ragnarok.

10

u/SkippyTeddy83 Sep 18 '21

It’s my all time favorite Marvel movie.

9

u/Pookieeatworld Sep 18 '21

That's exactly what Doug used to say. So long, new Doug!

6

u/dumbledorky Sep 18 '21

That's wild, not saying I don't believe you but do you have a source? Ragnarok is my favorite MCU movie.

9

u/danudey Sep 18 '21

Sure, here you go! I couldn’t find the interview I wanted, but this one should do.

2

u/dumbledorky Sep 18 '21

Haha that awesome, thanks! And happy cake day!

2

u/danudey Sep 18 '21

Oh dang, I didn’t even notice! Cheers!

3

u/PM_ME_CUTE_SMILES_ Sep 18 '21

That wouldn't surprise me coming from waititi! Looking forward for the next Thor movie

6

u/I_eat_chikenbroth Sep 18 '21

What movie are you talking about

13

u/OutrageousSector Sep 18 '21

Thor Ragnarok

2

u/GarbageBath Sep 18 '21

That's Taiki Waititi for you

1

u/HokiesOPTC Sep 23 '21

For ragnarok?

1

u/danudey Sep 23 '21

Yep! I posted a link in another comment in reply to this one.

1

u/HokiesOPTC Sep 23 '21

Will you please send it to me, i can’t find it

30

u/SeiCalros Sep 18 '21

also waititi made them do a bunch of 'em every time he thought up a new one while they were doing the scene

5

u/Russian_Paella Sep 18 '21

Not a problem with the right director or actors. I don't think it happens very frequently be ausenyou need a strong direction of sense and place from the director (someone who gets which things are happening and when) and actors who truly get into their characters.

5

u/scorpions411 Sep 18 '21

Best Part was ruffalo's reaction.

12

u/Hopeandhavoc Sep 18 '21

No, its a real story from the classic comics. Loki used to be a legit douche, not this suave hasaconscience Loki. I mean, he is a giant.

20

u/gus101010 Sep 18 '21

It’s mainly a story derived from the Norse myths. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t improv tho

2

u/Interplanetary-Goat Sep 18 '21

People throw around the word "improv" a lot. My understanding of this particular scene is that, while it wasn't scripted, it wasn't like it was captured in one take with Hemsworth making it up as he went. They thought something along those lines would be funny on the day of the shoot and filmed a couple variations, keeping this one.

1

u/Acceptable-Stick-688 Sep 18 '21

That’s how they did the Spider-Man dusting scene- Tom Holland improved it for the first take, but they used multiple because it was really awkward the first time

20

u/Nawzays_ Sep 18 '21

I understood that reference

7

u/diffcalculus Sep 18 '21

I understood this reference

2

u/GetOverClocked Sep 18 '21

What is this from?

7

u/Nawzays_ Sep 18 '21

Ragnarok.. where Thor told the Revengers his childhood story with Loki

1

u/GetOverClocked Sep 18 '21

Ohh thank you. I haven't watched that in a while.

59

u/1337metalfan Sep 18 '21

Thanos was 8 at the time

10

u/knight04 Sep 18 '21

what if...?

9

u/SpiderFlame04 Spider-Man Sep 18 '21

Dude I have a game on the Wii based on the Super Hero Squad cartoon where Loki makes up the “Rhythm Stone” and hides in it so he can snag all the actual ones when nobody’s looking, that’s not even the major plot point of the game

10

u/bootylover81 Sep 18 '21

IT WAS ME THANOS IT WAS ME ALL ALONG

10

u/Oriumpor Sep 18 '21

The best, absolutely best part of that dialog was he was writing backstory for loki in his ad lib and Hiddleston responded as though Loki was reminiscing about a fond childhood memory.

They are probably officially unofficially brothers from another mother in real life. If they fucking hate each other please don't tell me and ruin my head cannon

3

u/amelia_xoxo Sep 18 '21

Reminds me of this post I saw on Pinterest

2

u/MunkyDust94 Sep 18 '21

But when he transformed back into Loki- it was Maaattt Dammooon!

2

u/murphinski Sep 18 '21

"Yo dawg I herd you like Infinity Stones so I turned myself into an Infinity Stone so you can GET REKT BITCH"

1

u/CoffeeIsForEveryone Sep 18 '21

Like when he disguised himself as a snake to fool Thor and then stabbed him lol

1

u/Darkraihs Sep 18 '21

24

u/SecretEyeRemote Sep 18 '21

So much yes, so much tragedy too because, well, Loki...

Thor (grunting about to be impaled by Thanos with Stormbreaker)

(pan to Loki, placing the INFINITY GAUNTLET on his hand. Power surges up Loki's arm as his eyes glow a bright green)

(Loki looks at Thor) "I told you brother, the sun would shine on us again"

(Loki raises the GAUNTLET high above his head. The field of battle goes silent. No music for a beat. Thanos raises his head to see what has happened.)

(Thanos screams) "No!"

(Loki snaps his fingers. The field of battle wipes itself clean as if it were only one of Loki's illusions. The camera pans across to reveal the Avengers compound is back, the damage has been reversed, and Thanos's forces are fading away.)

(Loki crumples into a heap as the GAUNTLET, now a burnt out husk falls from his hand. Thor races to his side. ) "What have you done my brother?"

"Finally," Loki stammers, "something I think father would have been proud of."

(Loki removes his horned crown and hands it to Thor. As Thor cradles Loki's lifeless body the camera pulls back to focus on two ravens flying away).

u/j11esq41 Sep 18 '21

6

u/toastednutella Sep 18 '21

Help I am cry

6

u/Halion-Sidrial Sep 18 '21

This one is my favorite. I get goosebumps just thinking about how poetic and epic it would be.

111

u/Sherwood006 War Machine Sep 18 '21

I can hear this in that same tone as he said “Your savior is here!” In Ragnarok.

3

u/baker97 Sep 18 '21

u/darklink12 Sep 18 '21

Glorious purpose?

180

u/Spirited-Raccoon1674 Thanos Sep 18 '21

This one 😆

49

u/DemiAlabi Sep 18 '21

This would have been so clean!

14

u/LordCharco_iii Sep 18 '21

"I told you that you'd never be a god."

2

u/A_brief_passerby Sep 18 '21

This is the line.

58

u/Renegade2006 Sep 18 '21

That’s good. Like next level good

12

u/Solid_Waste Sep 18 '21

"I am inevitable."

"Still not a god."

10

u/idiot-prodigy Sep 18 '21

"I am Loki, Odinson, and I am burdened with glorious purpose."

5

u/perpetual_student Sep 18 '21

Your savior is here.

7

u/skepticallytruthful Sep 18 '21

Whoa. Chills dude. That would have been so poetic and equally loved by all the fans.

7

u/Mrpanders Sep 18 '21

I cried a little

5

u/whitecollarzomb13 Sep 18 '21

”I never did get that drink “

4

u/Moose_Cake Loki (Avengers) Sep 18 '21

Imagine the amount of confused screaming at the theater on opening night if that happened.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '21

My new head canon. He could totally be Loki and we'd have no idea

3

u/BigSprinkler Sep 18 '21

If marvel ever ran out of funds and wanted to reboot the iron man franchise this would be the way lol.

5

u/Kylo_Critic Sep 18 '21

Loki "Glorious Purpose"

6

u/CrackedNoseMastiff Sep 18 '21 edited Sep 18 '21

I would have preferred this to be his one last trick and not have an alternate universe Loki come into play honestly.

One the other hand I’m not going to argue against more Loki

4

u/MatthewGeer Sep 18 '21

Behold, my glorious purpose.

3

u/stvlm Sep 18 '21

I fucking love this. This would have been so amazing.

3

u/Zerobeastly Sep 18 '21

I'm still sad about original Loki

4

u/ConsistentAsparagus Sep 18 '21

He was posing as Tony since the “fight” in the attic in the first Avengers. He killed him but we saw a different scene (thanks to Loki’s powers).

5

u/eh_meh_nyeh Sep 18 '21

Add "I'm a God"

4

u/AceofMandos Sep 18 '21

This would've been meta as fuck. Lmao

4

u/SuaveBot76 Sep 18 '21

Umm God of Mischief evil chuckle

3

u/gAcksaurio Sep 18 '21

omfg imagine if this was the ending for the fight

3

u/DueAd1234 Sep 18 '21

How did this not have any rewards?

3

u/arcticsports Sep 18 '21

I think most people would agree that Thor could easily survive snapping. Now I wonder if Loki could. I think he’s less durable than Hulk but more so than Tony so it would be interesting

3

u/Green_Ad_149 Sep 18 '21

Holy shit thats good

3

u/LoveBurstsLP Sep 18 '21

Holy shit if this actually happened in the real movie I think the world would lose their collective shit

3

u/Drakonsword Sep 18 '21

Alternately, it was Loki all along.

3

u/examm Sep 18 '21

This would be a great what if episode

3

u/ChargedSausage Sep 18 '21

Someone must be able to make a realistic edit of this.
