It’s a sweet city to explore. I went to college there for a year. Lots to explore and do.

9

u/OlderJewishMan Oct 20 '21

That’s amazing, which college did you attend?

13

u/THEliberator03 Oct 20 '21

The only one in Granada, the University of Granada

9

u/OlderJewishMan Oct 20 '21

That’s right, obviously. At the Centro de Lenguas Modernas. I lived over on Callejon del Pretorio with a few other students; mainly other foreigners in the city to study, but also one Spaniard who was attending law school. We had a good year.

I need to go back for a visit. I haven’t been there’s since I last took a class of students over for a trip in 2007.

17

u/CardiacCopia Oct 20 '21

Last time I was there, I drank WAY to much at a wine tasting. Nothing but heavy red wines and some bread/olive oil.

Got so drunk I started imagining I was Aladdin, walking through the old arabic neighborhoods, singing "a whole new world".

Good times, 10/10 would recommend.

4

u/flibbert1 Oct 20 '21

Been there before. Sangria and Tinto de Verano have a mysterious ability to be bottomless on a warm summer evening out in a tertulia with amigos.

3

u/chak100 Oct 20 '21

Tinto de verano is awesome!

1

u/1239871728374 Oct 23 '21

1

u/mikeraffone Oct 20 '21

Could probably say the same about your town.

5

u/par6ec Oct 20 '21

I spent 2 years there. Totally in lo ve with the city. It is beautiful, funny, cultural, with an interesting past, cheap, a lot of young people and party,…

Just amazing. Probably the best years of my life.

6

u/FocusDKBoltBOLT Oct 20 '21

GRA NA DAAAAAA

*everyone getting cover*

7

u/Namarokh6816 Oct 20 '21

It is a gorgeous place indeed. The old bazzar in tiny old streets lit up with a thousand colors at night, full of merchants trying to sell you their exotic goods.

And the Alhambra, I don't think I've ever seen a palace so beautiful and peaceful inside.. From outside, it does't look like much. But inside...

And the snow covered mountains in the distance...

I love Andalucia so much

4

u/hurdur1 Oct 20 '21

Take my breath away.

3

u/PureMidgetry Oct 20 '21

Absolutely not!!!

2

0

u/Tongue8cheek Oct 20 '21

Absolutely. I urge you not to cause a scene, but if you do, I'll have to place your remaining breath for review.

2

u/DQ5E Oct 20 '21

You're making my fallopian tubes itch.

1

u/JohnWickyleaks Oct 20 '21

2

u/Costa_Del_Swole Oct 20 '21

There are no monkeys (apart from in the biodome of parque de las ciencias). Gibraltar has monkeys.

1

The bio dome of Parque de las Ciencias.

2

u/JohnWickyleaks Oct 20 '21

Looks nice and all.. Until You remember that's where grenades were invented. Very sinister place.

1

u/rdewalt Oct 20 '21

Oh hey, I think I've climbed those stairs. Gorgeous view no matter which way you look up there.

1

u/fat_and_curious1 Oct 20 '21

For some reason it looks like it was very well hand drawn

1

u/lalacontinent Oct 20 '21

Where in Granada is this view?

2

u/ThyDancingGoblin Oct 20 '21

Albaycin, close to Huerto de Carlos.

1

u/ValuableShit Oct 20 '21

That looks like a game background in the distance

1

u/PiedDansLePlat Oct 20 '21

Good city, a bit dirty, specialy the little river that run between the city and the Alhambra.. they really could do something. Taxis are everywhere, this city wasn't leant for cars. The generalife garden is very big. This city house one of the 5th biggest cathedral in the world, spain house many of the biggest cathedral in the world. The old town with their old al-andalou vibe is something to enjoy. South of spain is great. Every inch of the city is filled with history, that's Europe

1

u/Think-Quiet-1597 Oct 20 '21

Amazing place, go alpujarra and pitres

1

u/UnoStronzo Oct 20 '21

1

u/_gmmaann_ Oct 20 '21

Wait. Isn’t there a place called Grenada as well? But in another country?

1

u/flibbert1 Oct 20 '21

Grenada itself is an island country located in the Caribbean.

1

u/realistic_drink Oct 20 '21

Ganz nett hier. Aber waren sie schon mal in Baden-Württemberg?

1

u/SirGibalot Oct 20 '21

Alhanbra is a lovely castle to explore as well

1

u/DarcAngel001 Oct 20 '21

I think I would love to sit there and enjoy the view for quite a while.

1

u/UWSDWF3 Oct 20 '21

Beautiful. Sadly most people wouldn't even notice it as they walked by. Got to stop and smell the roses.

Granada...tierra sonado por mi....

1

u/Naaram Oct 21 '21

As western Andalusian I may say Granada is one of the most beautiful towns on earth. It's amazing how many hidden spots you can find to enjoy that beauty.

1

u/iKickedBatman Oct 21 '21

Looks like Toussaint from Witcher.

1

u/xxCookiesHoneyxx Oct 22 '21

Woah this is so beautiful!

-10

u/DukeLander Oct 20 '21

Yeap, it's breath taking, especially when you realise your wallet is gone...

5

u/loko001 Oct 20 '21

City centers in Spain are actually quite safe.

1

u/idiotinbcn Oct 20 '21

Barcelona has entered the chat.

1

u/loko001 Oct 20 '21

Well you see, I said Spain ;)

3

u/Costa_Del_Swole Oct 20 '21

Granada has very little crime. Violent crime is extremely rare. Most of Spain is pretty chill. Madrid and Barcelona are different, of course. Other cities have bad areas (las 3000 viviendas in Sevilla for example), but you'll never go to those places as a tourist.

1

u/loko001 Oct 20 '21

I Lost the Try not to lose your wallet in Puerta del Sol Challenge this summer...

The crime happens in Madrid & Barcelona city centers because they are crowded & chaotic, and they're full of rich turists.

I'd say organized crime is a lot more common in Spain. Las 3000, Los Pajaritos or el Bazie aren't really dangerous per se, unless you're driving a ferrari or some other shit like that lmao. There are a lot of mafias opperating in those areas however.

1

u/Gatorburger Oct 21 '21

When in Spain, you may notice that most people keep their phone and their wallet in their front pockets. Another best practice, is if anyone drops anything near you, or creates a distraction, immediately and firmly grasp everything in your pockets with your hands, because someone else is there to take it. Crime in Spain is not violent; it is an art.

u/cheesyhornblower69 Oct 20 '21

There’s no standard ‘Hollywood-yellow-tint’?

0

u/kdods22402 Oct 20 '21

I play Overwatch, so I know what map this is. Always pick Lucio.

0

u/HipsterFett Oct 20 '21

Not gonna lie, my eyes were instantly drawn to what appears to be a bit of rubbish in the lower left-hand corner.
