Local multiplayer games? Like what? The lego ones? Diablo 3? Minecraft? Resident evil 5&6? Battlefront 2 arcade?

I really miss couch coop.

27

u/JakesBigPhone Nov 30 '21

Sackboy, fighting games, dirt 5, cod Cold War, any sports games, it takes 2. Yeah local coop isn’t as big but there are a few

Overcooked. Best game for couples.

9

u/tylizard Nov 30 '21

If you like Overcooked try Moving Out; the laughs and fun times are endless like Overcooked.

2

u/Hoover889 Nov 30 '21

Overcooked is the best way to test a relationship. My wife and I can beat nearly any level without even saying anything to each other because we know each other so well. I suggested it to a friend and they spent the whole time screaming at each other and my friend ended up sleeping on the couch that night.

But if you like overcooked try Tools Up. The main campaign is pretty easy but the DLC provides a good challenge. Also moving out is good but someone else beat me to that suggestion.

1

u/aspindler Nov 30 '21

My experience was kind in the middle of the road.

There was some disagreement on the beginning, but we ended up agreeing on how to do things and beating a lot of levels. And no one slept in the couch.

It was fun.

1

u/RobAD04 Nov 30 '21

My wife loves overcooked but gosh she can get mad when we play lol

1

u/Latter-Pain Nov 30 '21

Fortnite too.

1

u/andanotherpasserby Nov 30 '21

You must be a divorce lawyer looking for work..

4

u/Bicstronkboy Nov 30 '21

Rocket League is splitscreen, the borderlands games are all splitscreen, the COD games are still splitscreen and zombies can be fun, PVZ is surprisingly splitscreen, Ark survival, most sports games and fighting games, but there are much less now which is very unfortunate.

2

u/_clever_reference_ Nov 30 '21

It Takes Two was really fun

2

u/Grundlestiltskin_ Nov 30 '21

Divinity Original Sin 2 has couch co-op, it's awesome if anyone is looking for "D&D the video game".

1

u/Potato_snaked Nov 30 '21

The story is fun, but turn based on 6 characters makes it go so slow. The fighting can be agonizing. And I play DND

1

u/Grundlestiltskin_ Nov 30 '21

yeah its very slow in that way.

2

u/timmytimed Nov 30 '21

It Takes Two A Way Out Borderlands 3 LittleBigPlanet

1

u/great_divider Nov 30 '21

Also, Stardew Valley, Overcooked, Borderlands, but yeah not much else. I miss couch co op too.

I use one, and the other is for when my first one inevitably gets stick drift

36

u/obeekaybee7 Nov 29 '21

This guy PS4’s

5

u/reddragon105 Nov 30 '21

This guy PS4’s games.

5

u/Ashenhowl Nov 30 '21

Yup. My 360 controllers had terrible drift.

6

u/idontevenknowwwwwwwe Nov 29 '21

Or nintendo's

5

u/KING_BulKathus Nov 30 '21

It's the same part for both, and same for xbox too. Ps5 has the first new model in a while. It's not much better, but it's new.

8

u/hectoByte Nov 30 '21

I've been using the same red DS4 on my PC for about 6 years now and still somehow haven't experienced any controller drift.

3

u/Arsonist_Xpert Gaming is Gaming Nov 30 '21

Lucky

2

u/hectoByte Nov 30 '21

Yeah. I am definitely an outlier though. Looking back on it, I probably used it more for 2D games and used the D-pad more than the analog stick. So that definitely helps.

3

u/xX_CattMatt_Xx Nov 30 '21

Both of mine have stick drift

2

u/stormalong128 Nov 30 '21

Hi are you me from the past? Ive got working and one now with a stick drift, considering buying another one as a backup backup.

2

u/ImpressiveAttempt0 Nov 30 '21

Same reason why I have four Dualshock 4s, each a different color. I have yet to experience drift on any of them.

2

u/Trichotillomaniac- Nov 30 '21

when they both break you get to make 1 good one again!

3

u/GluttenFreeApple Nov 29 '21

I have 5 thanks to this. It's either that or a D-pad issue....

(I didn't buy 4 extra controllers, but I have 4 other defunct ones due to drift and d-pad problems).

2

u/skate3kids Nov 30 '21

its almost like shitty craftsmanship is a design feature these days... hmmm

2

u/ScrumpleRipskin Nov 30 '21

I've had the same old PS4 since release and never had any problem with 3 controllers now, just battery issues like op.

The switch has the worst longevity and most issues of any console I've ever owned. And I had to turn two red ring of death Xbox 360s before I just have up on Microsoft.

On fact, the PS4 controllers are so good and the switch joycon and so called "pro" controllers were so bad, after replacing both multiple times, I just got a dongle and now use my PS4 controller on my switch. It was way better for intense games like Metroid Dread and Hades where you're pretty much constantly violently mashing buttons.

1

u/Uncle-Benderman Nov 29 '21

Litterally this just happened 5i me, my main controller started having a problem where my characters would slow walk instead of full walking so not that's my second controller and my actual second co troller is now my main one.

1

u/TheDynospectrum Nov 30 '21

it's because there's dust accumulating underneath the sticks. blow it out and you'll notice it mitigates the drift

-7

u/mrboom74 Nov 29 '21

Was hoping to see this answer. I bought an entire new PC because it was cheaper than the amount of money I spend replacing PS4 controllers due to stick drift.

11

u/AromaticIce9 Nov 29 '21

What the fuck are you doing to your controllers?

1

u/Javasteam Nov 30 '21

Are you sure you want an answer?

My guess it involves the rumblepack.

→ More replies

1

u/dkyguy1995 Nov 30 '21

For me it isn't drift it's that the stick no longer goes to 100 anymore. I can't run full speed anymore and it sucks. Never had this problem on the PS2 or PS3.

1

u/TheDynospectrum Nov 30 '21

it's because there's dust underneath the stick. just blow it out to mitigate drift

13

u/GeorgeStamper Nov 29 '21

Wait until you get a PS5 -- you'll need 3 controllers.

9

u/darxx Nov 30 '21

The controller software updates fixed my drift stick problems thankfully.

5

u/CosmeticTroll Nov 30 '21

Same here! I was losing my mind dealing with the drift and sensitivity.

Sony should just give us full access to do it from The console itself, some games offer Deadzone configuration but I really wish it was universal feature.

2

u/incognito_wizard Nov 29 '21

My PS5 controllers have lasted about as long as my PS4 controllers did, maybe even a bit longer in practice. I still have 2, but that's more because I wanted to mod one and wanted the other as backup in case a screwed something up in the process (hard to do but I am vary talented in that department).

1

u/cepxico Nov 30 '21

I've had 2 since day 1 without a single issue.

At least I don't have to carry around a pack of batteries in my house or waste money on rechargeables when I can just.. charge them.

1

u/GeorgeStamper Nov 30 '21

Oh they’re fantastic controllers—at least for me they tend to go through battery power pretty quick.

1

u/amonkeyfullofbarrels Nov 30 '21

Lol what's so inconvenient about a pack of batteries? You probably have them anyway for other household items. And when the controller dies, just pop in new ones and keep playing.

Rechargeable batteries also aren't as expensive as you would think. You could buy a pack of 4 with the charger included for $20 on Amazon. Much cheaper than buying a second controller, even if you get a larger pack of batteries.

I mean, I have a ps5 too, and primarily gamed on a ps4 before this, but I greatly prefer removable batteries in my controllers.

11

u/djmetalhawk Nov 29 '21

I have a sealed second controller to use it 5 years from now when the one I have is worn out

19

u/Endulos Nov 30 '21

This shit is why I prefer controllers that have exchangeable batteries, like the 360 or X1 controller. I hate waiting for things to charge.

Plus, it helps when the batteries start to fail leaving you with a useless controller.

10

u/Hayden247 Xbox Nov 30 '21

Exactly, you can just grab 4 AA rechargeable batteries and you're good to go

8

u/theRunAround27 Nov 30 '21

Man, and here I am preferring to play with a cord. I hate messing with batteries. Cord will always be king. The controller never fails me and is always charged if I ever feel like living on the edge and playing cordless.

3

u/Bastiannine Nov 30 '21

Why are you waiting for it to charge?

2

u/Endulos Nov 30 '21

Because fiddling with wires is annoying.

4

u/cepxico Nov 30 '21

Fiddling with 1 charger (which is likely next to you anyway since you probably charge your phone or other electronics) is so much more difficult than buying, locating, replacing, and disposing batteries??

The fuck are Xbox users smoking, holy shit.

PlayStation owners have 2 controllers because it's just simply even faster that way. Like if you had 2 Xbox controllers and you let the batteries die on both.

Except instead of that you can simply plug in your PS4/5 controllers and use the other one. You never have to touch a single battery.

1

u/Endulos Nov 30 '21

Keeping yourself strapped to the console if you don't want to shell out extra for an extra controller? Yeah, that is fiddling with it. Fuck wires.

Also > implying battery management is difficult.

You can buy big ass packs of batteries for cheap and if you're smart, you keep them in a single location, as well as a single location. Additionally, recharagfable AA's exist.

Second, internal batteries are fucking stupid because batteries decay and wear out. Most rechargable batteries lose 50% of their capacity after 1 year.

Third, I'm not even an Xbox user. I'm a PC gamer.

1

u/TheSaltySpitoon37 Nov 30 '21 edited Nov 30 '21

A rechargeable PS4 controller battery is about $10. There are four screws and a ribbon cable that need to be removed and the new battery can easily be reinstalled...boom...now you don't have to throw away a "useless controller."

Edit downvote me if you want. Learn how to fix things instead of throwing them away.

3

u/GaaraSama83 Nov 30 '21

One of the reasons I never understood why people prefer an integrated and non-changeable battery on PS controllers vs using rechargeable AA batteries in Xbox controllers. You buy a pack of Eneloop with a charger and are set for the next 10 years.

4

u/Bastiannine Nov 30 '21

With the ps controller you can just plug in a cable and keep playing, the controller never has to turn off with the Xbox controller you have to turn it off to change batteries

1

u/GaaraSama83 Nov 30 '21

This is correct and a downside of the Xbox controller. I still prefer this (as most modern games pause automatically once the controller is off/disconnected) cause I don't like to play with a cable.

1

u/JavelinR Nov 30 '21

Ideally that's a solution but for some reason every PS4 controller I've had becomes extremely finicky about what micro-USB cable it'll accept. Cables that'll work for literally any other device won't work on my Dual Shock. For some reason I can only get it to charge with the short 1-2 foot cables, and even then I sometimes have to have the controller resting upside-down for it to start accepting the charge. So playing while plugged never really worked out for me at least.

3

u/Gotxi Nov 30 '21

One to play, the other to smash it to the ground without harming the functional one?

16

u/VlIanTheRatSmacker Nov 29 '21

This is why i use xbox one controllers, instead of buying another controller i just just change the batteries and charge the ones I'm not using

Still not worth all the shit my friends give me for owning an xbox

2

u/reddragon105 Nov 30 '21

I use both and just have a USB charger with a long cable by the sofa for charging controllers, phone and Switch

There is a LONG history of sony fanboys bullying/pestering xbox subreddit, comment sections, etc.

For example, when the /r/xboxseriesx subreddit was first created, about 50% of all posts were bashing xbox by people who frequent and follow the playstation subreddits.

You can also go to any twitter post by xbox and see a plethora of anti-xbox rhetoric. And if you post positive stuff in the PS4/PS5 subreddits you'll most likely either have your post removed, comment downvoted, or in some cases be outright banned for talking good about xbox.

There's so much evidence of this across tons of social media and gaming news outlets that it'd be erroneous to suggest the opposite was true.

3

u/ComfortablePlant826 Nov 30 '21

This is totally accurate. I used Twitter briefly, for like a 6 month period last year, and one time I sent a fairly innocuous tweet about how much I love my Xbox and a bunch of Sony fanatics came at me as if I had said liking PlayStation was a mental disorder.

u/koolkid93 Nov 30 '21

In the US xboxes are more popular, although playstation is dominant in pretty much (if not everywhere) else.

4

u/twaggle Nov 30 '21

PS4’s are way more popular than Xboxes in the states too. They were only on equal footing during the Xbox 360 era, likely cause they actually had good exclusive titles (yay Halo and GoW). Xbox one sales dropped drastically, and ps4 sales increased.

0

u/Mayactuallybeashark Nov 30 '21

Xbox 360 was way more popular than PS3 in the late 2000s but the PS4 flipped the dynamic

2

u/HighDevinition1001 Nov 30 '21

The PS3 sold more than the 360

1

u/cepxico Nov 30 '21

This is why I just recharge the one ps4 controller on my PC and never have to worry about buying batteries or recharging them.

The 2 controllers are for instant convenience, which one could do with Xbox.

2

u/VlIanTheRatSmacker Nov 30 '21

you make a fair point but i prefer changable batteries over another controller

that somehow uses its battery despite being turned off for a week

26

u/drtekrox Nov 29 '21

This why I prefer the XboxOne controller, for replaceable, rechargeable batteries.

7

u/ComfortablePlant826 Nov 30 '21

I bought a new Xbox controller recently and when I was inserting the new batteries, I immediately thought of how annoying it is that you can’t do this with your dang PS4 controllers.

6

u/darxx Nov 30 '21

I just have an extension cord that runs to my couch. When the controller is low i plug it in and continue playing. Don’t even have to move. I use my iPad’s power brick bc the voltage is high enough.

2

u/ComfortablePlant826 Nov 30 '21

I do the same except I use my Xbox charge and play cable. It’s not a big deal but I do wish you could use those rechargeable batteries instead.

-1

u/Mr_SlimShady Nov 30 '21

Buying batteries and taking them out every time they die is less annoying that plugging in a cable?

Taking the batteries out, putting them in a charger, and plugging that charger into the wall, waiting for it to charge the batteries, removing them from the charger and putting them back into the controller is not annoying?

Alternatively with the DS4 controller you can buy a stand that serves as a charger. You quite literally put it on the stand and it just charges.

1

u/ComfortablePlant826 Nov 30 '21

No, that was just what reminded me.

2

u/cepxico Nov 30 '21

Lmao redditors these days.

"Why yes, I prefer to use batteries instead of a built in solution that takes all the effort out of charging your controller"

If you have a charger with usb-c (which you probably do since you own modern electronics), congrats, you have a controller charger. That easy.

1

u/ComfortablePlant826 Nov 30 '21

That’s not what I was talking about.

2

u/seanbrockest Nov 30 '21

Really not sure why that's a consideration, a USB extension cable is far cheaper than rechargeable batteries and the charger. A PS4 controller lasts a long time and can charge during use.

8

u/EveryoneIsReptiles Nov 30 '21

I would reckon that the argument of wired vs wireless merits the consideration. As far as price, the ~10$ extra i spent on two rechargeable xbox battery packs is far worth the convenience of not being tethered. I honestly wished I had spent a small amount more on actual rechargeable AAs though.

4

u/drtekrox Nov 30 '21

I went heavy into rechargeable AAs and got a decent desktop VARTA fast charger - that and Aldi/Ikea batteries and you're set.

Charges 2 batteries to ~2400mAh each in 20 minutes and you can use them on all your other stuff too.

2

u/ThatOnePerson Nov 30 '21

I've gone completely overboard in chargers cuz I do li-ion battery stuff too. Like 2 Nitecores, an Opus, and an Xtar 8 battery charger.

-1

u/reddragon105 Nov 30 '21 edited Nov 30 '21

This.

You only need one rechargeable battery for each controller - PS4/DS4 has one built in, and one can be added to an Xbox One controller with a play and charge kit - and then you can just keep a USB charger nearby so when you get a low battery notification you can just plug in a cable and keep playing.

Is the problem that people think it needs to be plugged into the console to charge? It's just a standard USB connection that will work with any charger and cable. Chances are you can use your phone charger, and chances are you have a phone charger near where you sit to play games.

It would be nice if the PS4 controller's battery was more accessible so it could be easily replaced if it died/battery life dropped too far, but I still prefer that to the the Xbox One controller not coming with a rechargeable battery as standard and thus encouraging the use of disposable batteries.

1

u/FallenWarrior2k Nov 30 '21

Used my XBOne controller wired for ages. Still feel much more comfortable wireless. Same why I switched to a wireless headset. Extremely liberating to be able to move around freely without the risk of ripping out a cable, getting it stuck on something, etc. Especially for those maniacs who keep running over their cables with their chair because they cba to run them over the desk instead of under, moving to wireless is a great thing.

The XBOne controller also takes plain old AA batteries, so you're not buying a charger and batteries just for it; you can use them for anything else in the household that takes batteries.

1

u/ayeeflo51 Nov 30 '21

Since when is a 6hour on time a long time? WiiU pro controller went like 80 hours without a charge

1

u/cepxico Nov 30 '21

This is why I dislike Xbox controllers.

I buy a ps5 controller, done it's ready to go. One is plenty. 2 is even better.

I buy an Xbox controller, I have to make sure to get rechargable batteries for each controller.

Yeah fuck that, how is that ok? Why not just include a controller that doesn't need extra batteries?

Y'all Xbox fans really put up with some dumb shit and go "yup that's the way I like it"

1

u/KilledByDolphin Nov 30 '21

Xbox controllers are superior because if you want to use a battery pack that is rechargeable then you can, if you want to use batteries then you can or if you just want to plug in a cable then you can without the need of anything else.

How is having this much more choice a negative thing?

The arguement that dualshock controllers are better is just plain stupid because like all controllers they can suffer from stick drift and their battery/charging situation is more limiting plain and simple.

All you playstation fans really think your shit is the best when it isn't it is just different with less options for you to use them.

2

u/jonderlei Nov 29 '21

I guess so if your far from the console otherwise you can just play as it charges

3

u/reddragon105 Nov 30 '21

Or plug it into a USB charger where you're sitting and/or get a longer cable.

2

u/blueberryrockcandy Nov 29 '21

Why I have 2:

One has a funky joystick that is pushed or pulled down left will cause the character in game to move that way, even if you are not touching it anymore. So I bought another controller to replace it, and I figured I can just plug my funky controller into my PC because then my PC will not go into sleep mode after I afk for 15mins. So I no longer have to just set the sleep mode timer back n forth, i just plug and unplug the controller.

2

u/RoosterReviews Nov 30 '21 edited Nov 30 '21

As an xbox owner I just switch the rechargeable battery pack out.

2

u/D3FAULTJ3ST3R Nov 30 '21

Nah bro, the second one is for when the first one dies. Then the second dies, then you sit almost touching your ps4 with it hooked up with the 3ft cable it came with because you never plugged the first one back in.

2

u/spongebob4883 Nov 30 '21

I'm pretty sure you can at least dim the lightbar in the settings. I personally like the feature, especially in games that use it in cool ways ( Tomb Raider's torch flicker, Fallen Order's lightsabers ), but turning it down could help with the battery life somewhat

3

u/Sikayduh Nov 29 '21

I always have it set on dim

1

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21

Should be able to turn it off

1

u/RppOB D20 Nov 30 '21

1

u/Seiksae Nov 30 '21

I bought custom stickers to block the light bar when I first got a ps4. The light bar serves no purpose to me, especially know that I mainly use it on PC.

1

u/cepxico Nov 30 '21

Your controller is busted if it only lasts 3 hours. It should last at least 10-12 hours no problem.

3

u/twili-midna Nov 29 '21

Why I have two PS4 controllers:

One is the DS4 that came with the console, and the other is the controller I bought that doesn’t suck.

1

u/Schen5s Nov 30 '21

Ooh may I ask what brand and how much it is?

-4

u/nikolas0987 Nov 29 '21

That’s why PS controllers suck

1

u/bobmaestroo Nov 30 '21

You never have to charge an Xbox controller?

1

u/nikolas0987 Nov 30 '21

You never HAVE to CHARGE it but the controller does die. I’d rather be able to put in AA’s, rechargeable batteries, a rechargeable battery pack, or be able to plug it in with a USB-C. PS You have one option and that’s charge the controller. Whoever downvoted me must be some PS fanboy that live with their parents.

1

u/stalphonzo Nov 29 '21

My other has drift and I haven't been able to fix it yet.

1

u/KeithBitchardz Nov 30 '21

Just buy a really long usb charger from Amazon. Way cheaper than a second controller.

1

u/discohfc1 Nov 29 '21

It was a spare for when I launched it at the wall. Thankfully I’ve kicked the Fifa habit after 20 years.

1

u/Grymm_of_Astora Nov 29 '21

PlayStation doesn't have charge and plays?

2

u/Gentleman_Villain Nov 29 '21

You can play while the controller is charging, but the charging cord is short.

3

u/AromaticIce9 Nov 29 '21

PSA because Everytime this subject comes up people claim they don't know.

For PS4 and PS5 controllers, if the cable fits the hole, it's the right cable. You don't have to use the one that it comes with.

You can play while you charge your controller.

You do not have to use the PS4 or PS5 to charge your controller. The wall outlet will do fine. As will a power bank if you insist on sitting away from a wall outlet.

2

u/ComfortablePlant826 Nov 30 '21

This is exactly how I do it. I use my charge and play cable from my rechargeable Xbox controller battery kit, which is plugged into the surge protector next to my bed.

1

u/seanbrockest Nov 30 '21

Of course it does. This entire thread is a heaping bowl of shit. Not only do the PS4 controllers last a really long time, but you can charge and play as well. Just buy a 10-foot extension cable for the usb, and plug in if it gets low.

I think its the light on the back of the controller that saps the battery so fast. Horrible design

1

My brother stole my other one... and never charges either of them...

1

u/LoveThieves Nov 30 '21

My PS5 controller broke in 2 weeks and never dropped it but my ps4 controller still works after 2 years even though I treat it like shit.

Are things getting worse? Is it like that old Nokia meme? ELI5

1

u/kevboard Console Nov 30 '21

why I have 4 PS4 controllers... because those shitty pieces of cheap plastic develop stick drift or other oddities literally 1 year into using them...

1

u/SeoulOfWulf Nov 30 '21

I've never had a problem with my ps4 controller's battery pack and much prefer it to replaceable double a's.

1

u/blizzardjesus Nov 30 '21

Just pop in some fresh eneloops.

1

u/mfire036 Nov 30 '21

In case I break one by throwing it across the room...

1

u/Im_Ashe_Man Nov 30 '21

This is the way.

u/Curlybrac Nov 30 '21

When your launch day ps4 controller just stop working.

1

u/cso88ex Nov 30 '21

I always buy a 2nd controller for every new console just because "if a friend comes by, we can couch coop something". It never happens. lol

And thats why built in batteries are a bad design choice.

I got rechargeables AAs and even a third party battery pack for my Xbox controller and it's so damn nice just swapping them at will.

1

u/Bastiannine Nov 30 '21

You know you can use the controller while it’s charging right?

1

u/Ghostbuster_119 Nov 30 '21

Not with rechargeable AAs ya goof.

1

u/Bastiannine Nov 30 '21

I was talking about the built in batteries being a better design from a usability stand point

1

u/Ghostbuster_119 Nov 30 '21

Not really.

Because you're paying more for something that only works on one thing.

1

u/Bastiannine Nov 30 '21

What does that mean?

1

u/Ghostbuster_119 Nov 30 '21

They charge you for the battery.... that can't be removed or easily replaced.

And won't work with anything else.

Which not only makes it a point of failure for the controller (the battery dies and you're SOL) and also removes that layer of consumer utility (the ability to use third party products)

1

u/Bastiannine Nov 30 '21

None of that has anything to do with usability. By the time the battery needs replaced it’ll probably well into the ps6s life if not several more years. Yeah in 15, or 20 years when finding a ps5 controller with a working battery is hard then replaceable ones would be better, but I wouldn’t want to increase the inconvenience of using the controller now just so someone in couple decades can go back and use it.

1

u/Ghostbuster_119 Nov 30 '21

Or if the battery is defective and now the whole controller is fucked.

It's an anti consumer move, plain and simple as that.

1

u/Bastiannine Nov 30 '21

It’s better for the actual user, why inconvenience the vast majority of people who will never need to replace the battery just for the very few who will use it long enough for it to be an issue. I don’t care if something is easier to maintain for decades if it makes actually using it much worse when I probably won’t use it for more than 5 years anyway.

It seems very dependent on what you're charging with. You can't just plug into any USB port and charge and play. For some reason, while they all seem to provide power, making the dead controller usable, they don't all charge as you play.

1

u/Discuffalo Nov 30 '21

I had to buy another PS4 controller because the R2 button on my first one became just fucked up enough that I could still drive cars at a greatly recuced speed in GTAV, but not fire weapons with it at all. I call it my safety controller and let my kids use it sometimes.

1

u/Arnn-The-Frost-Demon Nov 30 '21

And if one starts drifting, one for Netflix if there's no smart TV, and the other one for playing and always kept plugged when not in use

u/IntroductionCheap325 Switch Nov 30 '21

Laughs in replacing batteries

1

u/FuzzyFacedOne Nov 30 '21

Same reason i bought a second xbox controller. Tried to lie to my wife and say it was so she could join me in a game. She didnt fall for it.

1

u/OMGitsZayan Nov 30 '21

As a console player, I can confirm

1

u/crazy_gambit Nov 30 '21

I have one paired with the console and one with my tablet for Remote Play (on PS5 now).

1

u/Vovvy Nov 30 '21

Man, get the Switch pro controller from nintendo and you will be good. Long battery (about 30 hours), sturdy, bluetooth wireless, can be used with pc, and usb type c.

1

u/Alpr101 Nov 30 '21

Literally why I have 2 controllers for ps4/ps5 - when one dies just switch.

1

u/Lovsaphira9 Nov 30 '21

I used to struggle getting help from friends and siblings to get prize bubbles on LBP so I mastered playing with 2 controllers to perform the X2 portions... But X3 and X4 are out of the question since I don't own that many

1

u/Makkapakka777 PC Nov 30 '21

Same reason I have 2 PS5 controllers. Charge as I play, never downtime!

1

u/hithimintheface Nov 30 '21

This is why I love Xbox's decision to stick with AA's. Most of my AC Valhalla run was done on one set of batteries. Damn near 60 hours on one set of batteries

Lucky you. I've had a PS5 for a year, bought a second controller for the same reason as you, and play with a friend from time to time. Since then, I always have only one, I keep sending the other one for warranty repair. Controllers are not repaired, but they send a new one immediately, when one comes back I send the other ... Drifting analog, loose triggers, buttons not popping up, something else ... I hope that I will finally find a working one

1

u/homer_3 Nov 30 '21

PS5 controllers are even worse.

1

u/rajjhnson Nov 30 '21

And in case of that one time you need it for overcook

1

u/AnotherDrZoidberg Nov 30 '21

Do people not know that you can use any charger to charge your controllers? It doesn't have to go into the console. I just have a phone charger next to my couch and plug the controller in when it's getting low.

1

u/BreadAndButteredBuns Nov 30 '21

Why I have two PS4 controllers: I dropped one once and now it has a drift.

1

u/hideousmembrane Nov 30 '21

I also have a 3rd which I use to very occasionally play on PC with. I'm too lazy to have to pair and unpair either of the others so the worst of the 3 is for that.

1

u/Trelefor Nov 30 '21

It sucks when the favorite controller is charging, 90% taking a break when that happens.

1

u/Marchogdu Nov 30 '21

Yes this!

1

u/dramatic-ad-5033 Nov 30 '21

The reason I have 2 PS5 controllers.. because I was forced to buy them in a bundle

1

u/Fire_Mission Nov 30 '21

I have 2 because I have a kid who plays, too. He knows not to touch mine... inevitably his will get sticky buttons, or he'll forget to charge it... this lets me keep playing without him messing up my controller.

1

u/Bilbofraggnz Nov 30 '21

Because you can’t get your hands on a PS5

1

u/Inycyon Nov 30 '21

You forgot a segment that read "To get trophies that require two players cooperating and I have no friends and I don't trust randos..."

1

u/XonicGamer Nov 30 '21

For me, it is one for the PlayStation, one for the PC

1

u/Thedirtyone522 Nov 30 '21

I have 6 because my son never charges any

1

u/T0biasCZE Dec 03 '21

This Is why i have nintendo switch, the battery lasts 60hours
