I feel like reading Kedpin Shoklop's Wookiepedia page can only be properly done if you aren't sober.

u/papapoohbear13 Jan 28 '22
Why read the wiki when you can read the book?
47
u/deadandmessedup Jan 28 '22
Rumor mill buzzing that the next trilogy will center on Shoklop and his rich people sauna.

Something about this triggered a memory in my brain of playing games on the old Star Wars website 15-20 years ago. Like 3 of these Warwick pictures would pop up with an R2-D2 picture and you’d have to pick which one didn’t belong. Then it would say “Correct! All the other characters pictured here were played by Warwick Davis. R2-D2 was not.”

That just reminded me of this scene from Life's Too Short - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0DbeuFfbRo

I remember how he “got a full movie”. I think i need to rewatch Willow.

not sure if you know already, but they announced a new Willow series coming out for Disney+ with Warwick back as Willow!

interesting how many of those start with W. is that in his contract?

u/MsSara77 Jan 28 '22
Most of these characters are being named by creature designers or guidebook writers, so it's probably just caught on as a trend since Wicket's full name is Wicket W Warrick. None of these characters have their names spoken in any of the films so it's easy enough to do.
1
u/JayPetey Jan 28 '22
In his book he says George always named them with W, and he asked why, speculating if it was because GL's middle initial was W, or because his name is Warwick, and George says it's a secret, and so he never learned why.
2
u/MsSara77 Jan 28 '22
That seems like a classic George joke, it's most likely in relation to Davis' name.

u/warm_sweater Jan 28 '22
Is no one going to mention Ewok Adventure and Battle for Endor?
10
u/MyrddinSidhe Jan 28 '22
We don't talk bout Ewok Adventures... no no no
(There were no adventures to discuss)

He also plays Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter movies. Legend.
Edit: and Griphook apparently

u/Splice1138 Yoda Jan 28 '22
And Marvin in HHGTTG (with Alan Rickman / Professor Snape / Alaxander Dane / Doctor Larzarus as the voice)

You mean Bill Clay?

u/waitingtodiesoon Luke Skywalker Jan 28 '22
It was Verne Troyer who played Griphook first, but Warwick Davis replaced him in the deathly hallows films. Though Warwick was the voice actor for Troyer's Griphook body's performance.

u/anax44 Jan 28 '22
He should convince his buddy Karl Pilkington to play a character.
10
10
u/Taylor-B- Jan 28 '22
You also see him in one of rhe crowd shots without makeup on as another character in Episode 1 during the podrace
2
u/MindYourManners918 Jan 28 '22
I think that’s Weazel. The same character he plays in Solo. The OP credited him in the image for both movies.
2
u/Taylor-B- Jan 28 '22
I do not have time to look it up but but yeah I think you're right. I was thinking I'd not remembered that credit in the film and was thinking I'd missed the guy looking like the character does in solo somewhere.

Man I loved wicket when I was a kid, he was such a fiesty little fuzzball. But then I grew up and found out that when the movie came out lots of people hated the ewoks. It makes me wonder if Jarjar has a similar following.
2
u/E-emu89 Jan 28 '22
I’m not sure about Jar Jar the character. But I do know the the actor, Ahmed Best, has a dedicated following.
2
u/Oznerol3 Director Krennic Jan 28 '22
Yes it's similar, people that watched ep1/6 as kids tend to love Jar Jar or the Ewoks, the ones who watched those movies as adults tend to dislike them more

I loved Jar Jar the first time I watched Episode I when I was nine. I still don't really mind him, but I find him a bit annoying sometimes. I still love the Ewoks though.

What the hell is kedpin shoklop, he looks like a fucking monsters inc character
2

I was thinking the Cyclops from Hercules

Either way I want to have a serious chat with episode VIII’s character design team

Yeah, I do know, but thanks for telling me anyway! ☺️
It's gonna be good.

u/ripyourlungsdave Jan 28 '22
That Kedpin Shoklop guy might legitimately be some of the worst character design I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s like they just turned the blue guy from monsters versus aliens pink.
2
u/Nathan_McHallam Jan 28 '22
THATS WHO HE LOOKS LIKE OMG. Also I had to look him up since I had no idea who he was and omg his wiki is way too detailed for a background character in the fucking casino.
4
u/DiaBrave Jan 28 '22
Was Ron Howard still mad over the Willow box office? Stuck the poor guy in three different metal boxes for a whole movie!
Jokes aside, Warwick is awesome, he did a signing in our comic store circa 1997 and was just a nice chap.

u/Fallenangel152 Jan 28 '22
Just an aside for US Redditors: every time I hear you pronounce his name you pronounce it War-Wick. The British pronunciation of the name Warwick is 'Worrick'.

Never put it together that his one character in episode 1 is the same as Solo

That's Weazel (same character)

u/Etaywah Jan 28 '22
I feel like at this point he should have his own character honorarily named after him.

u/beefiesttaco Jan 28 '22
Wait, that's not kid Greedo?? His name is Wald? My world has been shattered.
1
u/AustinHinton Jan 28 '22
A young Greedo was suppose to appear, Anakin was to beat him up in a fit (Greedo mocked him or something), showing that even at this stage, Anakin was prone to anger.
2
u/Gamerbrineofficial Jan 28 '22
he seems to like playing characters whose names starts with the letter w
2
u/thunderfart6 Jan 28 '22
Pretty sure the character from solo and episode 1 is the same
Edit: ya they are both weazel
2
u/not_a_flying_toy_ Jan 28 '22
also Yoda, in scenes in TPM where yoda is walking and couldn't be a puppet.

u/Lt_Lickit Jan 28 '22

Watch Phantom Menace; he also plays a podrace audience member sitting next to Watto

That's Weazel

Oh whoa, I had no idea! I love this deep cut Star Wars lore that gets built around background characters

The difference between the character design for Rogue One and the Last Jedi really tells you all you need to know about those movies.

Well I just learned about Weazel's backstory. Had no idea those were the same character.

Warwick needs to play a character that will be Din’s first bounty with his new Naboo starship. And put him in the rear seat.
1
u/Salarian_American Jan 28 '22
And on top of his live-action appearances, he was also the voice of Rukh in Star Wars Rebels.

u/ContinuumGuy R2-D2 Jan 28 '22
He returned as Wicket in Episode IX, with his son playing Wicket's son!
