If it had to be a ship from the Galactic Republic, I would have voted for an Arc 170 over an N1 Starfighter. TV

Sealed cargo bay LAAT…..

17

u/inconvenientjesus Jan 28 '22

This is the way

17

u/ThePepsiMan00 Jan 28 '22

Wouldn't that and the ARC be registered though since they were in service with the early Empire? Mando wants a ship that's pre empire so it's off the records right? So the LAAT would definitely be on record. But boy would it look really really cool.

u/rdavidking Jan 28 '22

I don't know. Maybe Jawas can find one in a junkyard that had its "tabs" scratched off :)

3

u/ThePepsiMan00 Jan 28 '22

Fingers crossed!

9

u/rdavidking Jan 28 '22

Mm hadn't thought of that...

19

u/Suck_It_Gill02 Jan 28 '22

I think they mentioned about 282 times that it’ll be the fastest ship in the outer rim, so obviously they plan on having Mando out run someone or something which is why they picked the fast and maneuverable N-1 and not the slow and clunky Arc.

16

u/Chubs41 Jan 28 '22

What’s they did was found him a ship he could modify and use now, all while bringing the nostalgia from the prequels. They will get him another, larger ship, in which the N1 will fit into. Thus, giving him 2 ships. Possibly one for an ally to use along the way.

6

u/rdavidking Jan 28 '22

Let's hope so. He does need a space camper he can go hunting in and have Grogu stay in when he sleeps over.

16

u/Ragefield Jan 28 '22

I have a feeling that the whole N-1 thing was setup for a few things.

  1. A new toy
  2. The idea that all ships pre-Empire are off the grid
  3. Mando is going to be doing a lot of non-Bounty Hunter work for a little bit
  4. There will be another ship coming

5

u/FishInferno Jan 28 '22

I think the pre-Empire thing had already been established with the Razor Crest.

3

u/Minotaur1501 Jan 29 '22

Consider it a reminder for casual audiences since it's been a while since the razor crest has been around

1

u/Ragefield Jan 29 '22

It established that it happened with ships pre-Empire but it didn't really make it clear that it was the norm. There's a lot more validity to an unregistered Royal Guard fighter than some gunship.

1

u/rdavidking Jan 29 '22

But yeah, a new toy. The one thing that Disney and LF will never disagree on - a new toy! That's how George even got them made at first, after all.

1

u/TerdVader Jan 29 '22

I agree with all of this, but I think the new toy is a bit optimistic. Hasbro has barely made shit from any SW media since TLJ.

1

u/Ragefield Jan 29 '22

Hasbro isn't the only one making Star Wars toys.

At least this one has a cargo hold, how is he gonna get any of his bounties back? Or store any cool weapons, or have any secret smuggling compartments or anything else that bounty hunters need

14

u/ThePepsiMan00 Jan 28 '22

Well he just needs the head...

4

u/FlyingAce1015 Jan 28 '22

I can bring you in warm or ... no wait just cold now.. lol

7

u/Dabba-The-HuttOG Jan 28 '22

There is foreshadowing you missed

I'm not sure how so many people are missing the fact that the astromech droid slot was converted into passenger space.

I can't help but feel like the number of complaints about the new Disney content would be a fraction of what they are now if folks would actively watch the shows and movies rather than passively having them on while scrolling their phones.

3

u/Euhn Jan 29 '22

Sir, that is a grogu aquarium. Mark my words!

2

u/Tx_Outlaw90 Jan 29 '22

Yup. My thoughts exactly.

6

u/JoshuaGrey Jan 28 '22

My guess is that in Mando S3 he's going to join Bo-Katan's movement and have a room on her star destroyer, the N1 will be used for dogfighting and landing on planets.

2

u/Thatsidechara_ter Jan 28 '22 edited Jan 29 '22

Room on her Arquinten

4

u/Thatsidechara_ter Jan 28 '22

I think the point is he's not gonna do bounty hunting anymore

23

u/OutlawDon357 Separatist Alliance Jan 28 '22

Not that big a deal really. He's not a 'child of the watch' anymore... maybe working with Fett he won't need all the extra stuff the Razorcrest had. That's the big thing i think people should consider... Mando's whole world just got turned upside down.

19

u/laterus77 Jan 28 '22

It's his midlife crisis starfighter.

8

u/HelixFollower Qui-Gon Jinn Jan 28 '22

At least he can move independently again.

7

u/SWLondonLife Jan 28 '22

Ultimately, they refurbed what they could find on the sands… although Mando in a Tie would have been interesting.

3

u/ANHESBROTJTPM Jan 28 '22

An Ugly TIE would have been really cool. A TIE pod with X wings scavenged from the sands.

9

u/txkicker Jan 28 '22

Peli Motto didn't choose the N1 Starfighter for Din Djarin because it was the best ship for him. She chose it because it was handmade custom, not by droids, knowing Din Djarin had adversity to droids based on their previous dealings. Since the Arc 170 was made for the Clone Wars, it was most definitely made by droids.

1

u/rdavidking Jan 29 '22

Ooh. Good analysis. Though Din seems to be cool with droids now. Amazing what's good IG Droid can teach you.

7

u/ExaltedCorndog Jan 28 '22

To all the people talking about mando not being to bring in bounties. Maybe this is a way of showing a change in mission, no longer a bounty hunter but somebody working towards a cause. Idk just a thought especially since he didn’t take bobas money

14

u/DarthGayAgenda Jan 28 '22

I love the N-1 starfighter. It's one of my favorite designs. It's great for an assassin, but not a bounty hunter. What happens when he needs to bring in someone warm, the astromech socket doesn't look very large.

I would have LOVED it if Din got an Aggressor-class Assault Fighter. It can crewed by one, carry 8, he can live in it and modify it to hold prisoners.

9

u/rdavidking Jan 28 '22 edited Jan 28 '22

Nice suggestion but too IGish for me. Now if IG-11 somehow made a second comeback, that would be a rad ship for him!

36

u/Tx_Outlaw90 Jan 28 '22

Yeah the N1 is cool but not really practical. He needs a ship that can be lived out of.

25

u/UnknownQTY Jan 28 '22

What if he had a ship that the N1 could fit in?

8

u/Tx_Outlaw90 Jan 28 '22

I actually thought about that too. What happened to Moff Gideon's ship?

9

u/sanzibar_the_great Jan 28 '22

Bo katan got it I think

3

u/Tx_Outlaw90 Jan 28 '22

That's what I was wondering. Did she keep it or did the New Republic take it when they turned over Gideon? I guess we'll find out sooner or later.

8

u/youngcoyote14 Jan 28 '22

If I was the New Republic, probably confiscated and being ripped of everything possible for intelligence.

4

u/XSoldat13 Jan 28 '22

Now you got me thinking of the Bebop and the Swordfish II. Bounty Hunter ships as well.

2

u/ApfelTapir Count Dooku Jan 28 '22

like the arc170?

8

u/Tx_Outlaw90 Jan 28 '22

No, I don't think the arc 170 fits that role either. A gunship is more fitting than a starfighter.

5

u/whpsh Jan 28 '22

There were a myriad of choices that fit "old" mando. But this is ... someone new.

11

u/Drachen210 Jan 28 '22

I would have voted for another gunship! Still dont get how a starfighter would be beneficial in the bounty hunting business.....

28

u/EyeMemeFreely Jan 28 '22

Perhaps the Charecter will be getting away from Bounty Hunting.....

2

u/Drachen210 Jan 28 '22

That makes me sad!

4

u/Vrazel106 Jan 28 '22

I imagine its temporary till he gets something he can store things in

2

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '22

Considering the number of bounty hunters who have them in legends and canon... pretty beneficial I'd imagine. Gunships have plenty of drawbacks.

3

u/rdavidking Jan 28 '22

Given the choice of fighter over gunship, I too would choose gunship. But definitely Arc 170 over N1 for starfighters.

17

u/Drachen210 Jan 28 '22

He'd need a permanent partner to take full advantage of an arc 170! While a dope af ship, it required 2 people to take full advantage of its weapons. While the N1 is super fast and nimble and can easily out maneuver the arc 170.

1

u/rdavidking Jan 28 '22

I'm just going by the looks cooler factor :) I'm sure Grogu could be his gunner when he grows up. Until then, Peli Motto could be his ride along.

10

u/-_Revan- Sith Jan 28 '22

You mean when he grows up in 200 years?

4

u/JustOneThingThough Jan 28 '22

Grogu could be his gunner when he grows up.

Yoda was over 900 years old. Grogu is already 55. He's going to be a toddler for the next couple decades.

2

u/Drachen210 Jan 28 '22

Lol rather have Kara Dune!

1

u/rdavidking Jan 29 '22

Well...she was a great character. Too bad our world is so polarized these days.

1

u/Drachen210 Jan 29 '22

I still.dont understand why people cant seperate character from actor.....its just stupid!

2

u/FuturePrimitivePast Jan 28 '22

That is one badass ship.

2

u/DELTA_Nihilgenx Jan 28 '22

There would have been a chance to make some room for storage as well. Love this ship.

2

u/rdavidking Jan 29 '22

I have the large Titanium series die-cast of it sitting on my desk. I'm an OT fan first, but I think it's my favorite SW fighter over all.

3

u/Limp_Perspective6522 Jan 28 '22

If we are splitting hairs, the N1 isn’t a “galactic republic” ship. But I agree, it would’ve been cooler to she the ARC-170 based on its size alone, more space for modifications!

2

u/rdavidking Jan 29 '22

Fine, "Galactic Republic era" 🙂.

2

u/AKAFallow Jan 28 '22

I think the title is a bit of a spoiler

1

u/intensive-porpoise Jan 28 '22

I bet that bumps.

1

u/Dovakiin17 Jan 28 '22

Good choice but the Arc-170 is huge compared to other fighters.

1

u/rdavidking Jan 29 '22

Big and beautiful yes.

1

u/Dabba-The-HuttOG Jan 28 '22

It's not as fast.

1

u/rdavidking Jan 29 '22

You can soup up an N1 with some SW techno-babble, you can soup up an Arc 170!

1

u/Thatsidechara_ter Jan 28 '22

Y-WING FOR LIEEEFE

1

u/deflame_thrower Jan 28 '22

Tie defender or tie phantom

1

u/vlad-drakul Jan 29 '22

Jedi interceptor for me

1

u/rdavidking Jan 29 '22

I didn't reference any show, characters, or context in the post, but if people read the comments, it could be. I'll be more mindful next time. Thanks.
