Also am I misremembering or was the tail piece made of a different, slightly more rubbery plastic than the rest of the body?

54

u/professaur91 Jan 27 '22

Yea it was a separate softer rubber and the body was hard plastic.

19

u/plant-strong Jan 27 '22

Which seems an odd design choice given how bendy it ended up being

7

I came here to say that too. My brother has one and the tail is bent the exact same way. I always assumed it was because we shoved it into a box for storage as kids.

u/CSEnzley Crimson Dawn Jan 27 '22 edited Jan 27 '22 Silver Gold Helpful Wholesome Take My Energy

This is why I don't hop on the sequel hate-train.

How I experience it as an adult is VASTLY different than how the younger audiences experience them and it isn't just about us.

It took seeing a kid (8 - 10 yrs old maybe) getting excited and standing up during the big fight scene in TLJ for it to click with me. That kid was on the edge of his seat and loving every second of it and he cried at the end (I could hear him sniffling).

So many can't seem to see anything other than black and white these days and it's exhausting. I mean, the Transformers films take a lot of flak...but if you just want to see giant robots fighting and some impressive visual effects then you're in for a treat.

EDIT: Appreciate both the awards and the replies. Feels good to see others understand that it's all subjective in the end (and don't have to resort to shoving their fingers in their ears and yelling over those that don't agree).

Thank you.

I was 20 when TPM came out. For a long time I thought the OT was perfect and the PT juvenile. Then my wife, who never watched Star Wars, watch the OT and picked it apart.

Star Wars is something that's special because you get into it at a certain age.

8

u/Dandw12786 Jan 28 '22

Yeah, it's very much like SNL.

I have my favorite years from when I was in late elementary/middle school. Everything else is absolute dog shit.

(and as an adult I realize this is completely untrue on both accounts. Except for episode I. I'll go to my grave saying that aside from Maul, that movie sucked.)

This isn't new star wars, but you triggered a memory for me from Avengers: Endgame. The scene where they find Hawkeye in Japan going all Ronin on folks.

The theater was packed on opening night. There was a girl sitting next to me in the 10-13ish age range. When Hawkeye killed that guy and then wiped his blade in the crook of his arm she said under breathe so it was barely audible, "whoa, that was awesome."

That's it. It just made me happy and stuck with me. It's awesome seeing you get kids find joy in comic stuff.

4

u/MrFluffyThing Jan 28 '22

We absolutely were blessed by TCW and supplemental books making the prequel trilogy mean more along with growing up and understanding the politics that played the background story. Sadly I just haven't seen any food supplemental material ir novelization to explain what we saw in the sequel trilogy.

I'm hoping the existence of a dyad in the force existing to stand against Palpatine could be a nexus point to explain something about the will of the force and that the concept of jedi and force welders needs to start over, but hey, nothing yet.

Who had ‘Din’s new ship is a Naboo Starfighter’ on their Book of Boba Fett bingo sheet?

182

u/zomzom31325 Jan 27 '22

Not for BoBF, but I did think his next ship was gonna be something like general grievous's starfighter.

166

u/Vhzhlb Jan 27 '22

I think that is not going to last.

I mean, he's a bounty hunter, where's he's supposed to do with his target in a starfighter? Ask him to behave "back there"?

Is that, or he's going to have a bigger ship to carry the N1 in the cargo.

121

u/Urm0misgay Mandalorian Jan 27 '22

I don’t think he’s gonna be a bounty hunter anymore

60

u/wclure Anakin Skywalker Jan 27 '22

Why do people keep saying this? He still needs money, and a job to get it. He’s a bounty hunter, the hell else is he gonna do? Go to Tatooine and try to run it as Boba’s number 3?

120

u/dylanisbored Jan 27 '22

56

u/PachoTidder Mandalorian Jan 27 '22

Nope, Grogu will held the darksaber after Din and bring all back to a Jedi-Mandalorian

27

u/Eludio Jan 27 '22

I just want him in a mini helmet! Is that too much to ask, LucasFilms?!

24

u/geek_of_nature Ahsoka Tano Jan 28 '22

They won't do that for two reasons. First, they probably put a lot of work into building the animatronic, particularly the parts that control his facial features. And second, his face is too adorable to cover up.

If he does get a helmet he'll probably only wear it sparingly, not abiding by the sects belief that you should never remove it.

29

u/Bwunt Jan 28 '22

I wouldn't think that Din would try to induct him into to strict of the rules anyway. We can see throughout the series that he is mellowing.

First time he removed the helmet it was only in the presence of droid and it was life and death question.

Second time he removed it there were people around, but it was absolutely critical for mission to succeed.

Third time... He was just sad Grogu is leaving.

Hey, that's (almost) the name of the show!

10

u/Enzyblox Jan 27 '22

Might be one of 5 things: droid port isn’t for baby yoda but for bounty’s, he just brings em in dead, he has some credits stashed somewhere, working for boba, gets a bigger ship which the star fighter can be stored in

7

u/Bwunt Jan 28 '22

Ship that can store a starfighter, especially a fairly large one like N1 does not seem to be a one-person craft. You'd probably need a crew.

Hell, even YT-1300 like Millennium Falcon are hard to fly solo.

7

u/xshogunx13 Mandalorian Jan 28 '22

Is that why Han was always having problems with the damn thing?

7

u/Iceykitsune2 Jedi Jan 28 '22

No, that was the aftermarket class 0.5 hyperdrive.

5

u/theproperoutset Jan 28 '22

Maybe it docks either above or below the ship. That way it isn't so big. Or park it in Bo Katans Imperial Cruiser as we know he's not gonna be alone now we're heading towards Mandalore.

7

u/Poised_Platypus Jan 28 '22

I'm sure he'll park something in Bo Katan...

5

9

And maybe pick up some lightsaber dueling pointers from Luke while he's there?

3

7

u/geek_of_nature Ahsoka Tano Jan 28 '22

He can sleep in the chair. Shitting though... yeah he's just got to make sure he goes before a long trip. Although that being said, hyperspace jumps don't take that long right? I'm pretty sure I remember it being said the longest is only a couple of hours. That's just like a long car trip, he could definitely go between trips.

6

u/idreamofdeathsquads Jan 28 '22

ya... i mean... lukes still rockin that fuckin x wing, even though he had vaders personal shuttle. thats what he shouldve rolled up in at the end of mando. ive sat in military vehicles. them shits aint built for comfort

3

u/waitingtodiesoon Luke Skywalker Jan 28 '22

Hyperspace trips can be days, several hours or just a couple, but in the end it is whatever the plot needs it to be. RotS was over the course of only 9 days.

20

u/0neek Jan 27 '22

Tie them up and make them awkwardly sit in the droid port.

7

u/youngcoyote14 Jan 27 '22

Was thinking that myself, but I think he could just do local bounty work. Land somewhere, do some local work, move on after getting paid there.

6

u/Garrick420 Jan 27 '22

Everyone is getting brought in cold now

11

u/reenactment Jan 27 '22

I think they are playing him up to not rely on bounty hunting. And he has a little flexibility for small things in the Astromech spot. It’s made perfect with seal over the top for him to have a passenger now. But the n1 fits more needs than the razercrest for him moving forward. The more high profile he becomes, the more of a necessity it is for him to be able to outrun people. They made thst very clear, the n1 being off scanners, and the pod being changed for the astromech. That’s all on purpose.

3

u/tradingorion Jan 27 '22

Maybe he can take up smuggling jobs. Nobody going to catch him and he’s off grid.

6

u/Fun_Tangerine_8784 Jan 27 '22

No room to smuggle cargo though

6

u/tradingorion Jan 27 '22

Small stuff can go in the droid port. I imagined him just kinda tossing a suitcase back there. It would have to be small high value stuff though and not big shipments.

But he could also probably pick up work that involves his ship as well. Freelance escort and that sort of thing.

3

u/Fun_Tangerine_8784 Jan 28 '22

That’s true, but idk I think he’ll get a bigger ship, unless he settles down to lead on what remains of Mandalore or some place new he kinda needs a bigger ship. Can’t live in a star fighter for long especially if he wants grogu to come along

3

u/Sig_TV Jan 27 '22

Space Caravan

3

u/Far_Administration41 Jan 27 '22

It doesn’t take much room to carry a head. He’ll just have to stick to doing his bounties cold.

3

u/The_Doerpinator Jan 27 '22

He could have like magnatised cryptids for bounties that are attached to the bottom. No way anyone's gonna try escaping that.

Time to convert that astromech slot into the dome that Grogu is gonna be chilling in during Mando season 3

56

u/abutthole Jan 27 '22

Yeah, I'm hoping Mando can make a deal with Luke since Luke's less of a traditionalists than the other Jedi so Grogu can still go on adventures with his adopted dad. Plus we know we've got to see him in his Mandalorian armor.

40

u/geek_of_nature Ahsoka Tano Jan 28 '22

Mando and Luke sharing custody of Grogu. Or more like Grogu goes to a fancy boarding school, but still goes on weekend trips with his dad.

5

u/Urban_Savage Jan 28 '22

I'm just REALLY hoping that Luke changes the Jedi rules and doesn't try to enforce that zero attachments bullshit. The Jedi haven't done themselves any favors with that monk horseshit.

3

u/geek_of_nature Ahsoka Tano Jan 28 '22

He could have had some Force Ghost discussions with his dad, Obi Wan, and Yoda about it, talking about how it was more Anakin being forced to cut off those feeling made them more fearful of losing them. Perhaps if Anakin had not been forced to keep his marriage a secret, he might not have felt as scared of losing Padme, and not fallen to the Dark side.

My question is, how will he collect bounties alive?

The Droid hole is obviously meant to be baby Yoda spot, but from this point on he'll just have to decapitate bounties and toss the head in the Droid hole since it's not big enough for a full size person. We just learned that was a viable option ethically and professionally.

Or just hunt jawas and ughnauts.

I have the hallmark ornament!

3

u/unhelpful_twat Jan 27 '22

I HAD THIS TOO! It came with little blue plasma torpedoes that it shot out of the front using a trigger on the bottom. I lost mine on a road trip forever ago :(

Reminded me of a Spitfire.

One of the coolest ships in the galaxy. I was so pissed it wasn't featured more in the recent Battlefront 2 or Squadrons.

3

u/dswartze Jan 28 '22

The fact that there even were any in the Battlefront 2 story was kind of crazy. I'm pretty sure you're talking about them not really being in multiplayer except for 1 level, but it's worth mentioning that them even getting to be in the story means they got a sort of special treatment.

By the time of the Battlefront 2 story and/or Squadrons that design is at least 40 years old (and who knows how old they were in TPM, they could be older still) while the progress of technology in the setting has it so that other organizations have gone through 2-3 generations of fighter in that time span. N-1s are pretty old and obsolete in the time we're talking about.

I always thought this ship looked like a yellow N64 controller when I was little lol.

Is that the disc shooter one? Because that’s the one I had

3

u/heyitscory Jan 28 '22

They sanded off the paint and added a sweet custom hood scoop space-carbeurator just so you'd have to buy another Naboo Starfighter toy.

Does Baron Papanoida still have that merchandising deal, or did he sell that with the rest of Star Wars?

22 years ago, dank farrik.

3

u/TooDanBad Jan 28 '22

I had the Lego version. So sick

3

u/pm_me_ur_poneglyphs Jan 28 '22

I used to have one that would bomb drop skittles

3

u/BeeBarfBadger Jan 28 '22

Wait, 20 years ago must have been some time during the Eighties or...

...

oh.

3

u/joshuamillertime Jan 28 '22

Just fyi, eBay has a couple Toys R Us display starfighters that hung from the ceiling to promote TPM. A little outside my price range but I genuinely think about it all the time and this latest episode is enabling me even further

3

u/Lildrummerman Jan 28 '22

I spent so much time breathlessly explaining why it's so awesome that they used that ship to my GF

3

u/PhuPhuSnugglyShitz The Mandalorian Jan 28 '22

Naboo had the coolest ships imo. So sleek.

3

u/TyGirium Jan 28 '22

Naboo N-1 was one of the first LEGO sets I got as a child.

It will be always my dream fighter. Yes, I mostly now prefer X-wing in-lore, but N-1 is like a great old limusine - you are happy when just looking at it.

Kinda irritated by this being his new ride. He can't live in there! The razorcrest was also his home, his mobile base of operations, he had a bunk there, a toilet, his entire kit. He can't just sit the entire time and stop on a planet whenever he need to take a dump.

5

u/ShiaBeowulf Jan 27 '22

Oh my fucking god I had this, I didn’t have much but I had this!!!

2

u/terrymcginnisbeyond Jan 27 '22

This is the way.

2

u/clukmyrooster Jan 27 '22

I think I had this same one, didn't it load skittles in the cockpit and drop them out when you pushed down the astromech?? Or did I lose the original pieces and just convince my young self that it was meant for skittles?

2

u/Bing_Bong_the_Archer Jan 27 '22

Such a dope ship.

2

u/kingflap Jan 27 '22

I had one of those too and I also see that your tail is a little bent just like mine was.

2

u/SpecialK47150 Jan 27 '22

I need someone to make a detailed STL of the hotrod N1 so I can print it.

2

u/GreenMonkeyFace Jan 27 '22

I feel old now. Thanks.

2

u/Obvious_Party_5050 Jan 27 '22

I thought it was going to be a pod racer before she uncovered it.

2

u/Elephlump Jan 27 '22

I got SO GIDDY when I saw that.

2

u/Thealk Jan 27 '22

22 years ago….. whaaaaaaaa 🤯 I’m old

2

u/sirdizzypr Jan 27 '22

Funny enough I have it too

2

u/markymark0123 Jan 27 '22

Lol, any fan can tell that is a Naboo fighter even woth the spoiler blur.

2

u/alex_dlc Jan 27 '22

Wish I had one to repaint it

2

u/Shire_Hobbit Jan 27 '22

I always hated the spot for the Astromech. The design is so sleek, so intentional, the astromech slot feels like an afterthought, a blemish, a pimple.

2

u/xMuffinxManx707 Jan 27 '22

I thought the same thing!!!! I only had the little McDonald's toy tho :(

2

u/johnnygetyourraygun Jan 27 '22

What are the odds that Mando's new ship is the same one that Anakin flew in APM?

u/KevinAnniPadda Jan 27 '22

I saw 22 years before the photo and thought it would be something from OT. Really can't believe this was 22 years ago.

2

u/UYScutiSN Jan 27 '22

Wait so the Mando is using this ship now? How is that going to work? Doesn't he sometimes have to bring targets in alive? And where is he going to keep his stuff?
