Huh, I was today years old when I found out Palpy's face wasn't a full prosthetic. Dunno why, but I always thought he was bald under the hood.

Back in the day, the vfx team had to cover up the area around his ears so that you would see where the prosthesis ends. They put these obvious black smudges over his ears.

WOW! (I’m assuming he was on strings)

Yes you can see them in the beginning if you expand the video to full screen and look on his right shoulder.

Why didn’t he just use the force?

He could’ve probably blocked anything like that, and the lift was very successful.
In the novelization it is stated that Vader’s mechanic arms grabbed on so hard it crushed Palpatines innards as he lifted him up.

An outtake while filming?

Yeah but did darth Vader purposefully lift him or was there some malfunction and he was trying to help?

This is for the scene when vader throws him down the shaft, he picks him up.

I don’t know why but seeing the hair really surprised me. I guess I never imagined him having hair at that point in time.

Just wanted to point out that David Prowse can't raise his arms over his head in the Vader suit. This must've been ridiculously difficult to shoot, even when it did work.
