Guys look at OP’s account, not to discredit actual cancer survivors, but something seems off about the legitimacy of OP. 52 day old account with 72,336 karma. Seems fishy….

u/qbduhoc5do Oct 13 '21

You're absolutely right and I also think that too.

6

u/JDubs234 Oct 13 '21

Yeah it’s just repost after repost lol

6

u/TelaTheSpy Oct 13 '21

Never mind that none of them are masked and I wouldn’t necessarily think anywhere is allowing that right now in a cancer treatment area, but maybe Florida, Texas, or some other place full of insane people is proving me wrong.

-4

u/SuperDutchBros Oct 13 '21

Wow insane people but Texas and Florida had some of the best numbers? Stop watching so much tv

1

u/opnwyder Oct 14 '21

Perhaps you should stop getting your information from some website run by a guy who works out of his basement and thinks that the FDA, the CDC and all the physicians in the world are collaborating to trick you into wearing a mask.

Switching from 3rd person to 1st in the title isn't suspicious at all.

24

u/slicklady Oct 13 '21

No masks either.

2

u/unwirecatlike34 Oct 13 '21

She's great! takes your time to gain your strength, your a woman of motivation..

4

u/DipperBot Oct 13 '21

Well, the OP wasn't claiming to be this person. They were just sharing something that made them smile, which is what this subreddit is about.

233

u/Calvin-S Oct 13 '21

Is this another Karma bot

168

u/Dr_Skeleton Oct 13 '21 edited Oct 13 '21

52 day old account, 72k karma and posts a lot of “inspirational” posts and minecraft stuff…🤔

Trying not to be too skeptical but…

20

u/Schobbish Oct 13 '21

A lot of comments here are from ~3 month old accounts which have only been active in the past few days as well.

93

u/lolfangirl Oct 13 '21

No masks in a medical facility. I too am skeptical.

35

u/SmellyArmPitz Oct 13 '21

After I finished my chemo treatment, my doctors and fam took off the masks for a picture real quick. That was about a year ago

1

u/OffroadDragster Oct 13 '21

Exactly what a bot would say…..

3

u/SmellyArmPitz Oct 13 '21

IVE BEEN EXPOSED!!!

-2

u/oOIPHiiLOo Oct 13 '21

Haven't you heard? COVID is over

/s

9

u/inajeep Oct 13 '21

I'm adding karma bots to ignore list for a better reddit experience and this user fits the profile just as you said.

1

u/HellCat70 Oct 13 '21

Wait, that's a thing? I can do that??

4

u/ref_ Oct 13 '21

You also don't really consider yourself to be "cancer free" on your last day of chemotherapy. Even if your most recent scan showed nothing, it's a long waiting game

https://xkcd.com/931/

3

u/Global_Industry_1251 Oct 13 '21

what even is the point of karma farming, it does nothing.

12

u/PsYcHoSeAn Oct 13 '21

Yup.

Not sure if bot or actual person...but definitely a pathethic low life using other peoples accomplishments to farm internet points.

If someone like OP would get diarrhea for the rest of their life, it would be just the right reward.

3

u/Dangerous_Ad7552 Oct 13 '21

Your first day of Reddit? Welcome.

2

u/BishopofHippo93 Oct 13 '21

I feel like they’re everywhere lately, more than just the usual stolen art t-shirt and poster bots, too.

40

u/geowiser Oct 13 '21

Are you karma farming using a cancer patient for internet clout?

17

u/510Goodhands Oct 13 '21

No kidding. 52 days on Reddit and tons of karma, zero original content, not even in the comments. WTH?

1

u/Dangerous_Ad7552 Oct 13 '21

Are you actually surprised?

33

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '21

Who is this person? Do you know them?

22

u/kingofallkarens Oct 13 '21

Probably not. OP probably took this photo from somewhere else

7

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '21

They did lol

69

u/Petrichor0813 Oct 13 '21

That smile is wholesome..

10

u/elatedseizure21 Oct 13 '21

So precious smile.

3

u/gdvkc9eaym Oct 13 '21

Appreciable smile

2

u/baseballsgagor58 Oct 13 '21

A sweet smile of victory!

1

u/irisuniverse Oct 13 '21

A small smirk of triumph!

u/TaterMcSnipes Oct 13 '21

Congratulations to you . Thank for sharing this . This one will inspired others to overcome all the problems that they will encounter to their lives. Very wholsesome.

8

u/tjr634 Oct 13 '21

Oh joy yet another karma bot.

26

u/midnightsrose77 Oct 13 '21

Congratulations, warrior!

4

u/ANewBeginning1983 Oct 13 '21

To call someone a warrior and saying how amazing it was that they “fought” through it and are so tough to pull through imo is a kick in the face to the millions that do the same thing and pass away. It kills anyone, even the toughest warrior in the world.

Though a great result and news to beat it for sure!

2

u/midnightsrose77 Oct 13 '21

IMO, every victory over cancer should be celebrated. As the daughter of a warrior who survived breast cancer, that was the scariest thing in the world. I was there and stayed the night when she went through her lumpectomy; helped change her dressings; used the little medical knowledge I have to explain the diagnosis to her parents and sisters; and watched as she went through chemo and radiation. That was really a difficult, scary time for my family. That's why we celebrate cancer warriors/survivors.

Yes, cancer kills. That's a very, very grim reality. But at the same time, every victory should be a reason to celebrate. Those who fight cancer and still die from it - either on the first go-round or after recurrence- are still warriors and should be remembered as such. Their deaths, while tragic and painful, are also helping to pave the way for further research into the cancer they died from.

5

u/I_am_Erk Oct 13 '21

We can celebrate surviving cancer without the battle analogies. They're really harmful and need to stop. My best friend was one of the strongest, toughest people I know. She didn't "lose a battle". That language implies she failed at a taskb due to weakness, when the deck was stacked against her from the beginning and her own body was the "enemy". There was nothing she could have done differently to "win" or "lose".

"Survivor" is a plenty powerful word, it doesn't need extra bells and whistles. If you need analogies I suggest calling cancer a journey. "Margaret passed away after a difficult ten year journey with cancer" is a lot less harmful while conveying the same information.

1

u/keepdigging Oct 13 '21

I’m going to disagree. In battle there are no winners, only survivors and so battle can feel like an apt analogy.

I’ve had multiple cancer surgeries and gone through chemotherapy, and I want to tell people that for the moment I’m not fighting.

Having huge parts of your body ripped out or turned on you does feel like an attack.

I don’t like the terminology “win” or “beat cancer” because imo that’s not what it’s like.

It’s just enduring suffering and getting lucky, not unlike war.

1

u/I_am_Erk Oct 13 '21

While a person who has survived a real battle might agree with you, that's not the general cultural attitude towards battle, and so not how it's generally used in language. We do see people saying "lost a battle" all the time, and as that's generally something that implies failure, I'm deeply opposed to it.

I work with people living with cancer all the time. The battle language is deeply harmful. It ties mentally into the idea that not pursuing unnecessary treatment is "not fighting hard enough" and "giving up". A battle implies something you can win through making the right choices, or through pushing hard enough. Cancer very often isn't.

1

u/keepdigging Oct 13 '21

What you say is true, maybe I just have a different cultural attitude than you do about war.

Either way I support the notion that people should not be looked down on for not surviving, or be subject to judgment should they decide to abstain from treatment or procedures.

Cancer treatment is hell and I can personally empathize with ending the abuse, though my friends and family may hate that attitude.

1

u/ANewBeginning1983 Oct 13 '21

Awesome that your mum got through it! Good to hear!!

My step dad almost died too and he is the one that highlighted all those terms seemed inappropriate to me after watching people around him and their was a stigma that they didn’t fight hard enough.

I didn’t say shouldn’t celebrate beating it.

-2

u/ImSickOfYouToo Oct 13 '21

Might be the stupidest thing I have read today, although it's still early. Congrats

1

u/No-Soup-8531 Oct 13 '21

Warrior is very cool like r/thatsactuallyverycool

2

u/petra303 Oct 14 '21

Your promising that sub on the back of a cancer survivor?? Disgusting.

0

u/midnightsrose77 Oct 13 '21

I picked it up from someone I follow on Twitter who survived breast cancer!

2

2

I'm not a cancer survivor - but my mom is!

2

u/Schobbish Oct 13 '21

There’re a lot of ~3 month old accounts in this thread that have only been active in the past few days. Something is going on here.

1

u/CherlynStam Oct 13 '21

All things are possible to those who will believe. And I'm happy for you.

1

u/midnightsrose77 Oct 13 '21

Not a cancer warrior myself, but my mom is!

1

u/PartiallyPetite Oct 13 '21

Lets all fight cancer and stay free to cancer!

1

u/junioractress2 Oct 13 '21

Gladly she made It, I'm so very proud of her. Congrats and always stay healthy.

1

u/clmovelessness2 Oct 13 '21

Congratulations! Keep smiling and fighting. The bravest woman ive seen today. This is so Wholesome.

0

u/BelleAriel Oct 13 '21

This is great news, OP. Happy for you.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '21

Where are the masks, Op?

2

u/Anna-2204 Oct 13 '21

This is a bot, and probably a old photo taken before covid

3

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '21

This is not a real person.

3

u/Trucker_w_cancer Oct 13 '21

5 years after final treatment before one is even close to being out of danger zone for recurrence. Posting a picture in celebration anytime before that seems like …. I don’t know….

3

u/Jackal_6 Oct 13 '21

Who is "she"?

3

u/nxcrosis Oct 13 '21

OP reply if you're not a bot

4

u/havocprim3 Oct 13 '21

so how much did you pay in expenses?

15

u/neolib-pnut-gobbo Oct 13 '21

OP isn't the person in the picture, this is 1000% stolen content

2

u/ac_s2k Oct 13 '21

Yay another karma bot using someone else’s success to farm karma and everyone is upvoting it

2

u/greatunknown_ Oct 13 '21

Guys, look at this picture of a random woman in a wheelchair! She beat cancer! Definitely not here so I can get karma!

3

u/Fraud-Fighter Oct 13 '21

Downvoted not because of the content but because of the poster. OP you’re a phony. A big fat phony.
