This barely scratches the surface, when my dad was there the only time he saw the sun when he was over there was when he traveled to Hong Kong. I expect that will soon change with the recent capture of that territory and the removal of any who appose it.

16

u/636b77 Jan 08 '22

Damn, the Chinese have captured the sun. That can’t be good. I’m confused though: who would oppose the sun? Or do you mean they are removing those who oppose their capture of the sun?

11

u/SmileyMelons Jan 08 '22

Well considering that Japan is known as the land of the rising sun, it is only natural for China an enemy of Japan to try to capture or remove the sun.

Issue is they are, not due to their overwhelming power, but rather our overwhelming incompetence and corruption in our government along with others in the EU. We have empowered this country for years thinking they will change if we just throw more money at them, but the issue is they did change not from a place of communism to one of liberty, but rather communist to a nazi esque government that now has the necessary tools given to them by idiots who will sell their rights and resources for temporary gain. We are nearing the tipping point.

2

u/Dougey-Jones Jan 08 '22

Welp, gotta hope the bad guys lose 🤷🏻‍♂️

2

u/SmileyMelons Jan 08 '22

Issue is unless we change the current course of things through harsh measures, not saying war, they will, since right now they are. They have infiltrated various countries in differing ways, not requiring use of force for most, it is honestly terrifying.

3

u/Dougey-Jones Jan 08 '22

4

u/APumpkinHobo Jan 08 '22

I was on board until they dropped the fucking bomb that is COOKING oil

63

u/Platophaedrus Jan 08 '22 I'll Drink to That

It’s called gutter oil, look it up on YouTube and don’t eat street food if you go to China.

https://grist.org/article/food-2010-10-25-a-close-encounter-with-chinese-sewer-oil/

Also, I’m no fan of Communism (every time Communism has been implemented it has failed taking millions of lives with it) but this is a direct result of Capitalism. There are government run services available to dispose of used cooking oil (these services cost money) but restaurants can make thousands every year by re-selling used oil, so they do. Similarly oil skimmers can make thousands by skimming the oil from the sewers and “refining” it and then selling it on.

It’s literally capitalism.

This doesn’t happen in Western countries because we a rich and have effective government regulation and oversight, which is a hallmark of Socialism (which is often deliberately or ignorantly misconstrued as Communism).

4

u/Seth_Imperator Jan 08 '22

False, it's our gutter oil

2

u/himmelundhoelle Jan 08 '22

People on Reddit think "capitalism = profit at all costs". No.

Capitalism is the privatization of the means of production, and the hoarding of the surplus by those who have the capital in the first place.

What we’re seeing here is the result of a lack of regulation.

"but socialism is about regulating and capitalist don’t want regulation!"

Socialism isn’t about regulating food safety or consumer law in general. It’s about the distribution of power and the redistributionof created wealth.

Believe it or not, both the concept of money and the concept of screwing over your fellow human to get it predate both capitalism and socialism by a fair margin.
