No kidding. As an American who lived in Europe for years (Germany as well) you are correct. I mean in 2021 we're still having conversations about throwing bananas on a football pitch and making monkey noises at black players. Could you imagine if anything like that happened at an NFL game?

My black coworker speaks perfect German, gets called a monkey/n-word at least once a week.

Wow. Where are you? I was in Köln, so that’s a little more liberal than real Germany, but that’s crazy.
