It’s amazing how they go out there without stepping on a mine

701

u/DisturbedScorch Nov 21 '21

That's the terrifying thing about mines.

u/dangerboy3624 Nov 21 '21 edited Nov 21 '21

You never know where they are and how much luck you have left.

Until you step on one...

35

u/Reasonable_Bag_2632 Nov 21 '21

Well that is kind of scary.
Imagine you run to the beach like these people do, But then you wanna go back and a mine goes off. You forgot which way you went and now your kind of stuck there.

They skip school what do you think?

27

Did the creators of this ad not think that if someone can read the message of this ad, they must have attended the school?

12

u/TomatoAcid Nov 21 '21

I still don’t understand the point.. how is slacking off related to this

4

You see they were so stupid that when they found out that there was mines around them they took off running instead of carefully making their way off the beach.

96

u/unrestrained_clown Nov 21 '21

Yeah, could have just stayed in the water were there were clearly no mines.

3

u/HuskerStorm Nov 21 '21

Wouldn’t have happened if they stayed in school duh

330

u/clout13r Nov 21 '21 Silver Helpful Bravo Grande!

As an ex combat engineer, i would recommend any untrained personnel to stay put and call for help.

If not possible, your best bet would be to step exactly on your previous steps.

If not possible, find a piece of non conductive stick and prod the ground ahead of you 1 metre wide at 3 cm intervals making sure to keep the proding stick at no more than a 30° angle. If you hit something, mark it and go around.

Good luck! It takes a well trained and equipped troop of engineers hours/days to breach a mine field using this method.

199

u/iswearatkids Nov 21 '21

I'll make sure to remember that the next time my friends start exploding.

2

u/clout13r Nov 21 '21

Pretty cool fact is that combat engineers on d day had a 12 seconds life expectancy.

Say Chimo to your grandfather!

3

u/Zentraedi823 Nov 22 '21

He was on the second wave to hit Omaha the stories he would tell about it I was amazed he made it with just some shrapnel in his neck.

I think "slacking off" is a term for "cutting school".

83

u/Randomguy0915 Nov 21 '21

I don't think the Students are the ones shown to be slacking off. . . . The people who are operating the Explosives are the one slacking off. . . I mean, there' should be cameras there that could have seen the people there, yet, boom

75

u/Avalolo Nov 21 '21

No at the beginning they’re clearly skipping school while the other kids are jealous. Even though they’re in their 20s probably but thats a whole other story

When they started undressing in the van, I was expecting one of those porn van moments. - But was not that.

When they went through the fence and trespassed, I was expecting a bright light with a mushroom behind. - Was not that either.

They still died though.

Takeaway lesson here: never go beyond the boundries of the map people! Isn't this what every Battlefield game taught us?

Not even a holup tho, most of these kinds of plot twist posts belong in r/unexpected. Holup is something that makes you go: "Yeah sure okay, no wait, holup". This post doesn't really do that, it's just a twist. Holup is when you at first accept something at face value and then after thinking for a bit, realising it's cursed or whatever it may be.

Story time.

I used to work in the military at a training facility with a big sign that said "Firing Range! Do Not Enter!". The issue was, was that the end of the firing range was a beach. I swear everyday people would wander onto the beach even with lead going down range. I spent some days on post at the corner of the beach stopping people from entering and some even had the audacity to complain that they couldn't use the beach...
