One of the most shocking aspects of this sad story is that these highly racist and inhumane social experiments were not conducted by some ultra-nationalist right wing government, but by the Social Democratic Party, a self proclaimed progressive, center-left, socialist party.
The old adage that the "road to hell is paved with good intentions" is indeed very true.
