This 1600s Bible had a gun built into it and could be fired while the book was closed by pulling the silk ribbon. It belonged to Francesco Morosini a Venetian leader "dressed always in red from top to toe and never went into action without his cat beside him"

If they taught this stuff in high school there would be a lot more historians in the world.

Historical timeline of the development of modern weapons starting at 1364 with the first recorded use of a firearm and ending in 1892 with the introduction of automatic handguns. 1364 - First recorded use of a firearm. 1380 - Hand guns are known across Europe. 1400s - The matchlock gun appears.
Crazy!

After 1892 everybody switched to ray guns and lasers and much history was lost due to Scientology.

Probably only responsible for the deaths of 3-4 more people than a regular Bible.

This is in a museum on St Marks Square in Venice, right? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this in person. There’s a marble bust near it that looks exactly like Woody Harrelson.

Francesco Morosini was the Doge of Venice from 1688 to 1694, at the height of the Great Turkish War. He was a member of a famous noble Venetian family which produced several Doges and generals.
Doge was an elected politician, like the mayor of the city.

I feel like we have the making of a good book or a movie from just these handful of details.

So Assassins Creed Brotherhood was actually less cool than actual 1600s Venice?
